A company called Bristow & Sutor requested a fee of £1,385 from me on behalf of Salford City Council. This fee was equivalent to the fee for the months I had a student exemption. The email they sent me said things like “this is your last chance to make a payment, we can't reach you”. I haven't been sent any emails or reached out to before, so why haven't I been sent an email by the council and why is Bristow&Sutor has contacted me? Although I lived in Salford a year ago and paid all my council taxes on time. I still paid it and called the city council 2 weeks ago to ask for a refund. City council told me there was a mistake and a refund would be made, but it wasn't and I still can't get through by calling. Very bad City Council, it definitely doesn't work well.
Cruel experience re: bus lane fine.nnDidn’t receive any letters due to house move. Salford Council then sent my details to a bailiff company I’ve never had any debts in my life who sent me threatening letters/emails to my new home address. When I contacted the council to inform them that I can pay but I hadn’t received any letters other than the recent bailiff letter. They refused to withdraw the bailiff action despite having numerous opportunities to do so. Having read the horrendous reviews for the bailiff company it seems that this is common practice for Salford Council.nnThey have not followed correct procedures and have acted unlawfully in this situation. This is unjust and immoral and has left me feeling disgusted. When I then sent them emails explaining the legislation and policy around this they refused to communicate with me.nnIt is organisations like this that create distrustful, fearful and angry communities.
I’m not sure how, in 2024, their services can be so outdated. Apart from a useless chatbot, the only way to communicate is by phone call or sending a physical letter!!!! It’s strange that they still don’t use any modern or rather, not-so-modern anymore!! technology to improve the user/customer experience
It's impossible to contact them. Everytime I call I get ‘I’m sorry due to the number of recipients we cannot take your call please try again later...’. Also their online chat is useless...And I see from reviews that nothing change for the past 3 years...
I experienced very rude support from the general inquiry team.nnWhen you ask a question, it feels like they’re doing you a favor! Even if they don’t know the answer, they just say no, even though they’re not allowed to because they aren’t officers.nnI have no words for the highway department—it’s been four weeks, and I still haven’t received an answer.
