Needed somewhere reasonably priced for a one-night stay and the Royal was ideal. Rooms were beautifully clean, nothing fancy but stylish and cosy. The free breakfast station is a great idea, though we didn’t use it. My son had the breakfast ordered in from a nearby coffee shop and it was great. The staff were all lovely and extremely helpful. Rooms: Really clean and comfortable. Walkability: Easy walk from station and right in town for access to restaurants and shops.
Excellent stay. We had 1 night in Lancaster for a gig. Staff super friendly and helpful, let us leave bags early which was much appreciated. Lovely room, really clean and bed super comfy. Bar is great, cosy with cool but unpretentious vibe. Would def return and recommend, thank you.Rooms: 5/5

Great staff, not overly expensive, nice pub, wasn't too busy or crowded when we went in. Just a shame there was lots of noisy building/hammering/drilling going on. Presume some kind of upgrading to the place?? Would be happy to visit again Service: 5/5
Had a quick overnight stop here: rooms were clean and the beds and pillow were exceptionally comfy. Bathrooms clean and great water pressure. Staff is AMAZING. Don't know how they found so many consistently lovely, helpful and considerate folks. The reviews here are all spot on. Even the toilet paper was the best I've had on this trip.Rooms: 4/5

Outstanding stay - Very friendly staff, very well appointed and comfortable room, and the staff were more helpful to us than we would of hoped.
Just rediscovered the Royal, nice atmosphere and a good range of drinks. Board games are available if that's your sort of thing and pizzas can be ordered in.
I booked this hotel as it was close to the hospital where I was having surgery the next day. Upon arrival the lady was very accommodating and as I was self isolating, arrangements were made so that my wife and myself were unable to have room service which is not normally offered to guests. The room was in the outbuilding of the hotel and was clean, had all we needed. As it turned out we ate our evening meal in the wonderful beer garden. Again the staff respected my self isolation requirements. Great place to stay, will definitely visit again.
The best staff and clean rooms, pizza from aquilla very fresh. Nice beer and ale.Rooms: 5/5
