Been coming here for past few months for couple of drinks as passing by. Food always smelt good so decided 2 give it a try today & go for Sunday lunch. 1 of the best carvery I've been 2 in a long while. Meat was great and fresh. Beef excellent Turkey great and not dry. Pricing great and staff excellent aswell. Ive been to a fair few carvery and drove 25min jst to try this 1 & wasn't disappointed. Booking was simple on the website and probably would recommend on a Sunday as it cam get busy and if later in evening carvery can run out as expected. Will be back for a mid week evening meal soon. Keep up the great atmosphere and standards nice good places like this becoming hard to find.
Nice Sunday dinner . Warm welcome from the landlord I think place was buzzing with families. Beer, cider spot on paid £12 each for two meats carvery was very tasty just a few veg a bit lukewarm but I am guessing that’s all about timing . Tasty meats with friendly serving staff . Impressed May be back . Nice pub
Lovely pub ...my mother in law pam lives round the corner so we visit regularly...food is great with good options and the beer I'd great and good value for money...great atmosphere definitely worth a visit if in the area
Nice atmosphere, good food and very pleasant staff. Good service can be hit and miss if you don't order all at the same time. Highly recommended.
Sunday 29/01/23. Plus points. Could accommodate a large number of us plus dogs for the Sunday cavery. Staff helpful and friendly even when we had to rearrange the timings on the day of the booking. So that's all good. The standard carvery has a set price or, as an additional offering, an optional chargeable 'go large' upgrade to a larger portion. However, on ordering two caverys, I was given the price, and then I decided to 'go large' on one of them, but was told that both already were large caverys. So, it appears the server had decided that we were having the optional add-ons without us requesting them. Now, I could have stopped him and requested standard versions, but let it slide as this was going to be the only meal of the day. I would expect the standard variant to be the default, or at least be asked the question. It does smack of a bit of sharp practice on the pub's part. Also, and I suspect this may be down to the brewery, JW Lees, but how does 1/2 pint of Coke cost £2.40, when a pint costs £2.90? I may not be the best mathematician, but would expect a 1/2 pint to cost roughly 1/2 of a full pint i. e. 50%, and not 82% of the cost of a pint. Overall, good food and service, however I would be more careful about how and what I was ordering in the future.
The meal I had was fab. It was a burger.. which I don't normally have but it was really nice. Very nice experience. I would recommend
Called in today for a Sunday Roast - Excellent !!! Staff very friendly, welcoming and accomodating even though they were very busy...even the head chef on the carvery was smiling and friendly usually find them grumpy
A lovely warm welcome for a birthday meal. Staff were friendly and food was excellent. We will definitely be visiting again.
Had a fantastic lunch with family, staff very nice and helpful, the portions are really good and the menue is good for everyone.
Easy to park and a spacious pub. We went to see a comedian , who was dismal, but the performing room is intimate and has a bar.
