This is a fun, factual shop in Ambleside. It's worth having a look, as it makes a change from all the outward bound shops. There are fun things for children to discover and the whole family will enjoy seeing all the amazing items in the gift shop. You won't be able to resist buying something colourful, sparkling or prehistoric.
It's an amazing place that has fossils displayed. There's a large amount of different kinds of marbles and colorful stones for sale. The most interesting part is buying a tiny cloth bag from the cashier counter, your kid is allowed to jump into a pool of marbles and stones to fill it up.
A lovely shop full of gemstones, fossils and other curious trinkets. I was absolutely in my element here, and things were priced very well. Staff were friendly and the shop was very welcoming in general.
Loved this shop. More of an experience than a shop! Our daughter enjoyed swimming in stones! Really innovative, a shop for children and adults alike. Dog friendly too.
Great little place at the top of Ambleside, there is a dinosaur detective activity upstairs and a gem put downstairs which kept the 5 and 3 yr old entertained for good while hunting for the best stones for their treasure sacks.
Great place if you love gemstones and dinosaurs. My boys both loved it and had a great time picking gems in the gem pit. The dinosaur section upstairs was a bit disappointing though considering it cost £5 a child to go up.
This place is more than just a shop! It's fun to visit and I found it educational too. Some really lovely jewellery and small ornaments as well as fossils, rocks, salt lamps, crystals and gemstones of all types and colours. Plenty of info about them and about geology in general. Liked the big map on the wall showing where the gemstones come from. There are fun activities for children including a gem pit and a treasure hunt in the upstairs dinosaur den. A few dinosaurs down in the shop too! Spent an enjoyable half-hour just looking around and finally bought a beautiful magnetic bracelet for £15. The shopkeeper was both knowledgeable and friendly. Would certainly come here again if I return to Ambleside.
Had a very lovely time in here with my friend, despite being adults we got in the gem pit and managed to get enough tumblestones to fill a display bowl bought from another local shop. Reasonably priced, especially the amethyst and new stock constantly coming in. The employee there was also warm and welcoming. Sad to have missed the Dino skeleton but we will visit again if in the area!
Perfect rainy day activity with the children - my two loved this, and I actually think it is very reasonable for what you get which is time in the gem pit, the gem bag and as many gems as you can fit in the bag which is quite an impressive amount. We also made bracelets which was fun. Thumbs up from us.
Lovely shop filled with all sorts of rocks and semi precious stones. Kids loved the scratch patch and spent a lot of time digging in the rock pit. Lots of very interesting info on the walls and a good place to learn a little more about geology. And one or two dinosaurs about!!
