The club is improving rapidly under the new management of Johnny, with new weights added to the weights room, and a refurbishment program occurring in the cardio section. Gemma and Ibrahim are welcome additions to the staff team, both being friendly and attentive to your needs. The paint job in the hallways and reception is a bit shoddy but again it is good to see the club being renovated and efforts being made to improve the gym. There are a few things that I feel could be improved. There should be some cleansing sprays located in the weights gym, so people can clean sweat off the equipment after they've used it. Gym users should not be allowed to wear work clothing and boots in the gym (appropriate gym wear and trainers only). There have been some sticky construction substances transferred to the benches which is both unhygienic and a health and safety hazard. There is one gym member who,on a daily basis, sets up a circuit for himself where he uses 4 - 8 pieces of equipment. If you try to use the equipment he says he is using it, whilst he is clearly elsewhere. It is unfair for him to monopolise so many pieces of equipment during busy periods, and to further add to the inconvenience caused he just leaves the equipment used in situ and doesn't put it back where he got it from. There should be a limit on how many stations you can use at one time, and people shouldn't be denied use of the equipment because someone has set up a circuit for themselves. Monopolising two pieces of equipment is fair enough but 4- 8 is simply unfair to other users. It would be good if the club could extend it's weekly opening hours by an hour. A 11pm closing time would be great for shift workers and for those wanting to play squash. If not 11, then 10.30. The daytime schedule should be more over 50 friendly, which would increase the membership. It would be great for the older members if the club could add more Yin Yoga to the daytime schedule, perhaps Monday, Weds, Friday. This would allow for real improvements to be made in this increasingly popular training session. The club should be more proactive in it's promotional schemes. Rewards should be offered to longtime members that encourages them to bring along new members, i.e. free passes to bring along a friend etc. However in summary the club has seen some positive changes under Johhny as manager, I feel more happy to recommend the club to others as a consequence.

A gym on it's last legs! Went to this gym on a Month trial membership. The staff are friendly, particularly a guy called Ben and a woman called Dee, but the gym is disappointing in a few ways. The maintenance of the gym is very poor with many machines having little things wrong with them. The cleanliness in the gym leaves a lot to be desired. I used the preacher curl bench, and noticed that someone had sweated so much there were sweat lines running down the front of the bench. I returned the next day and the marks were still there, so it hadn't been cleaned. The cleaning is done very very badly, and the smell of old body odour lingers in the air!!! The gym allows kids from different groups to use the gym, who are poorly monitored. In the mornings there are a group of kids who seem to be from some kind of school exclusion unit. They definitely have behavioural difficulties, and their foul language can be, well foul. In the afternoons kids from a local private school use the facility, and whilst the foul language is absent, so is common sense, and they are a bit clumsy in the use of the equipment. The pool is regularly closed for mysterious reasons, which one can only assume is down to poor maintenance. The steam room is great, but on some of the nights, it gets switched off early, so you find that at 9.30 the steam stops. I have also had the lights in the cardio rooms upstairs turned off on me at 9.30 (health and safety hazard) but I was led to believe the club shuts at 10 not 9.30. The female Personal trainer is shocking, she simply has to be the worst personal trainer I have ever seen. She stands away from her clients with a cup of coffee in her hand, whilst they do their exercises with poor form. She is painful to watch, and I wouldn't train with her one to one, if she paid me. The club has a bald PT, who seems a bit more attentive, and switched on. I didn't see any other PT's so I assume it is only them. The club does not offer food in the bar, and it has definitely seen better days, but it is a comfy, friendly environment. Mark the barman is a friendly chap and is on point when it comes to serving people. The parking facilities are great, and you never have a problem parking. I would say the club is probably not worth the charge, when compared to some of the newer 24 hour gyms. The closing times are too early for a gym in 2017, and they are often in a rush to kick you out. This said, with firmer management, better staff motivation, better cleaning and better maintenance this could be a very good gym. At present it is a tired old ship just limping about in the ocean waiting to sink.

Reasonable priced gym but a bit out of date and unfortunately not very clean. You can do all your workouts but the atmosphere is a bit dull as it looks like it's a never ending construction area from the late 80s. Still 3 stars worth as staff is very friendly, everything works and location is good with lots of parking. In addition to this it is not too expensive and no contract.
