Walked past this restaurant a week ago, the fancy decorations at the entrance along with the Alice in the Wonderland theme, already made a remarkable and unforgettable memory, that's why it's only right to come back and try this out with friends today. When we went in there, the beautiful flowers and delicate tableware were eye-catching, felt like experiencing an unique taste of an elegant and quality British afternoon tea, love the whole setting of the restaurant and the delicious popular tea set dishes, got the Lotus tea, it's great and refreshing, to go with the sweets and good looking desserts, scone, sandwiches. Absolutely an exceptional and attractive restaurant, worth going and hanging out there is fun and chill.
We really enjoyed our time here. This was a bit of a surprise booking for my mother who is obsessed with Alice in Wonderland. This was absolutely perfect. The ambiance fits the bill entirely. We came for our booking right as they opened which was a perfect time. We had a nice quiet corner table where we could enjoy and take in everything. We ordered the Passionfruit, Guava and Mango tea and it was amazing, I highly recommend it. The French toast and the eggs Benedict were fantastic. The service was very attentive and friendly and our whole experience was very enjoyable. I highly recommend
Came here for a birthday lunch. It was pleasant enough, but the decor etc wasn't really my sort of thing. The afternoon tea was nice, but I felt a bit on the expensive side. The Assam tea was delicious though and service as good.Food: 4/5
A cute little place that serves excellent Tea and scones at a reasonable price. The Alice in Wonderland theme is just magical. Very friendly staff, clean bathroom, nice music playing in the background and great choice of cakes.
The sandwiches, cake and tea are okay. However, I would not recommend the rarebit as the mustard was too overpowering. Not disabled friendly as there is no wheelchair accessibility or ramp. The table we were allocated was broken and was constantly wobbling. Staff were made aware of this and there were attempts to fix this with napkins as we were informed the excessive wobbling was due to uneven floor. After investigation, the root cause was the main leg of the table was becoming detached from the stand. Staff were unable to relocate us to a different table as they said it our fault for changing the booking. When in fact, as a restaurant it is the restaurant's responsibility to replace broken tables/ensure there are functional tables. What is not acceptable is blaming the customers and brushing it off as not being a problem especially when customers have paid for this experience which includes using a table that is functional and steady to support the plates and cups. We did feel various members of staff who served us throughout the meal were passive aggressive from start to finish. When checking the bill, we were asked what the issue was and were told everything was on the receipt and were also asked if it was the service charge that was throwing us off. As feedback, I do feel the staff need customer service training to improve customer satisfaction and experience. Overall, food was okay, though I would not come back as customer service and attitude of staff definitely did not meet expectations.
The cakes were fresh and tasted great. Everything was presented nicely and the atmosphere was really good too. The staff were really attentive and made sure that we had our tea topped up with extra water. I'm looking forward to revisiting.
It's the most Manchester of the Manchester Tea Rooms. We took a Scouse mate here this afternoon, having promised her a trip to a proper Mancunian institution. She wasn't disappointed. Superb afternoon tea. The carnivores really enjoyed theirs and my vegetarian edition was fab. Excellent scone and beautiful cakes with boxes provided for the amateurs to take their leftovers home. If you too would like to be ambushed by cake, this is the place to do it.
I would give four stars for the decoration and the atmosphere only. The food was not that good; I mean, not the perfect option to eat. The cake and cake were not wrong. Coffee was very standard. Very friendly staff. Clean. Expensive I think it’s a good place to drink tea and eat some treat.
Tea rooms with an Alice in wonderland theme. Well decorated although most of the plants and flowers are plastic sadly. The food was nice although I'd say the sandwiches are a bit overpriced. Cakes were delicious and the tea selection extensive.
I went for the afternoon tea and cake. It's a must visit place in Manchester. Starting from the decorations, wide selection of the menu, staff friendliness, and their knowledge. Charlotte, who works there, assisted me with my order, which was a chocolate tea and lemon cake. The tea was above and beyond and highly recommended. The cake was also delicious and light and matched with the tea selection.
