Story

For nearly 100 years films have been shown on this site. The Cromer Theatre of Varieties (built in 1914) showed short silent films between variety acts. The theatre was enlarged, modernised and a balcony added in 1936. Despite several name changes it remains the oldest cinema operating in the county. In December 2007 Merlin left the Southwest and headed East to Norfolk where we acquired the Regal Movieplex. It is a very popular 4 screen cinema with holiday makers and locals alike.

Tired of in depth conversations the ol' bread knife and I thought we could spend a couple of hours not talking so we went to the pictures here. We saw '3000 Years of Longing' with Hilda Swinton and Idris Elbow. "Kaw," the ol' bread knife said to me, "this fillum makes me feel like we've bin in 'ere for free faasand years and I ain't even finished me popcorn!" "Sorry, doll," I said, "but I musta dozed orf, meself!" What a pair...
4 screens and more of a classic 70s american cinema feel. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable, happy to talk to you at the end of the film about what the film was like. Clearly know the regulars as well. Good value for money - tickets are £8 for an adult and I got a popcorn, drink and pick a mix for £10. I went in Feb 2022 on a wet Monday as a way of escaping storm Franklin, but had a great time. The cinema doesn't have parking itself but there is pay and display parking near by. Check out their website for film times. Would happily go again, especially to have a chat about films with the staff. Lovely, friendly and clean. Went back again in September 2022 and enjoyed another cinema experience here. Staff and friendly and helpful. Would happily go back when I am next in the area.
I like the idea of going to a smaller town to help with local businesses but the picture quality was awful. The seats are small and smell and the popcorn was expensive. This cinema needs massively updating to keep up with the rest of the country!
Small but perfect cinema. Went to see the Polar Express as a Christmas special with popcorn and a drink included in the ticket price.
Not too expensive, the seats have decent leg room. Number one is the best as the screens get progressively smaller and screen 4 is more like a large TV. I found the audio too loud as it has made my tinnitus worse, will need ear plugs next time.
Small and personal and very relaxing to watch a movie. Staff are very good as well.
For a small town Cromer excells with its cinema. All the latest movies available but in a more bijou setting . Love it.
Went and watched matilda the musical it was an amazing show . Friendly staff and overall looked clean .
I enjoyed this cinema. I would have given 5 stars but the sound was too loud for the size of the halls. It was loud even for my boys who like their sound quite loud when they watch a film or listen to music. Difficult to understand the words when is so loud. Also in one of the halls they had an oil radiator on which made the hall hot and air stale. I hope that they will check the halls with a bit more attention to make sure they have the right temperature and perhaps a better fresher air and also the sound could be turned down a little I had to edit my review as I have been recently and wanted to enjoy some sweet popcorn while watching Black Panther. I might have just thrown away £5 or give it to a charity as the popcorn was 90% in very tiny bits. You couldn't even pick them up so tiny they were. Very disappointed that they actually do not check the quality of their items they sell to the public coming to enjoy a good film and a popcorn. A small glass of Pepsi Max was £4 and medium popcorn £5. I didn't mind paying that but I didn't get what I paid for wondering what their manager is doing not noticing they are selling rubbish! I am for supporting local businesses but not when they don't pay attention to what they sell!
Why oh why do you need to travel to multiplex cinemas when you can go to a local venue near by. Cromer is a lovely small cinema. Every time we come the staff are just so friendly amd welcoming. Also find ticket prices cheaper than the big boy cinemas. Snack and drink prices are more reasonable vs the big multiplexes. Seats are nice and comfy, great sound and screen so you get a good movie experience.
