Great rest stop and welcome hostelry, right by the river. Closed on Mon and Tues. After refreshment some great walks along the banks of the river, with views across the reeds to the horizon. We stayed at the touring site, with high quality showers and facilities and plenty of space for our 7.5 metre motohome. The site is open all year round, weather permitting. Adjacent to the Inn is the chain ferry, shuttling vehicles across the water at a sedate pace. Great place in the round, we enjoyed I!
Excellent meal friendly staff decent beer in tap. Friendly evironment. Nicely decorated pub oldy worldy. Nice piece of steak muscels were good couldnt manage pud. Not sure what more you could ask for. Would definatley visit again.
Unfortunately the pub was closed when we visited but it looks nice from the outside, we were surprised to find there is actually a cross river ferry for cars/vans, takes about 2 minutes to get on, cross and get off, between 6.30am and 10pm, amazing service.
A group of 4 of us dropped into here for lunch…… had 3 x fish, chips and peas and I had the steak sandwich. Lovely food, generous portions, doggies allowed unfortunately there was a noisy doggo a couple of tables away….. made us hurry our drinks at the end and vacate with our well behaved pooch. The decor is a little dated too but 3 stars seems abit mean so 4 stars it is!! :
Amazing Sunday Roast we had belly pork and beef, enormous portions, game changer parsnips. Generous dessert menu and portions! . Nice, friendly place and service. Our dog had a great time too, he ate almost as much as we did! Thanks chef!
The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is fresh, local when possible and fresh cooked. My husband said his steak and ale pie was the best he'd ever eaten! I had sea bass today, perfectly cooked. Oh I nearly forgot - the desserts are wonderful! We would certainly recommend eating here and drinking - a variety of local pumped beers etc being available. In good weather it's possible to sit on the terrace overlooking the river and watch the river craft and the Chain Ferry going back and forth. Well worth a visit. Vegetarian options: There is a variety of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options . Parking: A fair sized car park available. Wheelchair accessibility: A ramp leads in through the main door and, once inside, a slope to the bar. There is a small step down to the WCs but a back door gives access on the level. Dietary restrictions: If you notify the staff of any dietary requirements, they will accommodate them.
Camped overnight here. Had drinks, tho the card machine wasn't working, and being out in the middle of nowhere wasn't ideal. Not a huge selection of food, one price for sandwiches, regardless of the fillings, tho the did look big, we didn't eat here. There's a grassed area which would have been ideal for tables, but unfortunately left unused. Only 2 brollys on the outdoors tables and in 26° heat everyone was after them. View across the broads is beautiful and loved watching the day sailing and the Reedham Ferry going back and forth. The pub itself looks very unloved from the outside, I never went inside. Would stay for the camping but not overly fussed about the pub, such a shame tho
Amazing food at this pub Absolutely loved every meal there. We had 4 meals. The rib eye was perfectly cooked. The beef roulade interesting and delicious. Can't wait to go back there.
Wonderful food and welcome, the Sunday Roast was 1st Class and the Apple Strudel was superb. This was our first visit but it won't be our last?
The staff are brilliant. 5 stars. The food was not good 2 stars. Chef really hasn't a clue. Been a customer for 23 years. Won't be eating here again.
