We visited the Pleasure boat inn yesterday 1st of September 2023 not knowing it’s been closed down and in a state of disrepair this was a lovely broad side pup a couple of years back when we last visited . On the up side you still have a large FREE carpark and toilet facilities on site and now a pizza van and pop up bar in the front pup garden .. please be aware the pop up bar is open 6 days a week excluding Mondays until the end of September after that any changes will be confirmed . This review dose not reflect on the pop up bar in any way as we did not use the bar but is totally aimed at the Pleasure boat inn and the fact it’s now closed. Despite the pup closing this is still a nice place to visit for a picnic beside the very impressive Hickling broad.
Great pop up pub currently in place while the Pleasure Boat Inn is being refurbished. Great Woodforde's beer and an excellent location. Great place to stop after a busy day round the Broads. So peaceful
Camped in pub carpark in exchange for having a pub meal. Went kayaking in the morning £4 slipway fee. Great peaceful place with 24hr loos.
It's got a lovely outside eating area which is the stuff of picture postcards. The post covid opening menu was too samey. Don't get me wrong, the food is tasty enough but not much variety. Staff were lovely & the ordering system worked a treat.
**motorhome stop over review** we stayed here for one night in our motorhome, while taking our children to see the beautiful seals on a nearby beach. pub did not request any money up front, I just emailed in advance and they confirmed availability. we had a lovely family meal in the pub. fairly level ground, but mind the pot holes. the car park owned by the pub is crying out for repair. toilets were immaculate, and disabled was operated by radar key. would visit again.
Pizza and cold g+t from the popup bar in the beer garden. very nice, hope it fully opens again soon.
A very nice pub with a selection of different local ales and ciders. As I was driving later I went for a pint of Fosters, thinking this would be a non complicated choice and I wouldn’t want another. How wrong could I be. This supposed simple lager was full of malty notes on the nose and the pallet. I noticed it was served slightly warmer than most other places so maybe that’s why it had more flavour. I didn’t eat here but lots were and the portions looked generous and the food good. I hope to get back here next year, if not sooner.
This pub is sort of open. There is a pop up bar in the marquee but the main building remains closed. The garden is open with seating but the toilets are the public ones on the other side of the car park. There is an excellent range of locally brewed ciders and a couple of real ales on offer, yesterday it was Woodfordes Wherry and Nelson's Revenge. Once refurbishments are complete the pub will reopen properly.
Great pub! Absolutely wonderful social distancing for ordering and getting served. Doesn't feel forced, just natural. I had a cheesy jacket potato and it was delicious. We sat under the marquee and it was nice and sheltered but still open. Would definitely reccomend
Please read all of this. The Pleasure Boat Inn is closed for work and refurbishment at the moment BUT there is a pop up pub operating on the premises and you can use the beer garden and covered area there. They have some lovely cider and a few beers. There is also a pizza van beside the pub that do really really good thin based pizza's not like the rubbish you get from some chains that could mention. So for views atmosphere good food and drink it's still worth a visit, we did twice while on vacation!
