Called in with my daughter for pie, mash and peas on a lunchtime and it was absolutely delicious. The pie, provided by the amazing Pink Lane Bakery was perfection. Full to the brim of tender beef chunks and gravy. I opted for the cheddar cheese mash which was lovely. A large selection of beers and lovely friendly staff made for a great visit. We will definitely be going back.
It's still a really good place to visit. Pie, mash and peas may not sound good but it was again fantastic! There are loads of combinations of flavours. Reasonable price too and a good choice of beers. Great views on to the Quayside and bridge. It's a very atmospheric pub which is well worth a visit. Thanks again Red House.Food: 5/5
A very deceptive pub that winds around the place and is actually quite big inside. It still keeps its Olde World charm. Great choice of pies and accompaniments. My steak pie was delicious, and the garlic mash and liquor were really nice.Food: 4/5
So glad I had my last meal here. Stayed 5 days in the city. Fab pub, warm, cosy, quaint. Food was delicious, pies are from pink lane bakery. Really nice place to sit with a book during the day, or meet friends in the eve. Staff friendly....well, it IS Newcastle. View of the bridge, if sit in the window.
Came here on a recommendation by a local and so glad I did. The pie was amazing and served with skin on proper home cooked chips, fresh peas and gravy. A dog friendly pub. 10/10 highly recommended and will definitely be back again to try one of the other pies on your menu.
Amazing building. The food looked and tasted great but was just warm. I’d have rather waited 10 minutes later and got it piping hot Food: 3/5
Great food , good staff, dog friendly and a good price. It's been a while since I last went but my most recent visit was just as good. It can get busy at times but we went in the bob trollop side. The tikka pie is really nice fully recommend. It has a really good old vibe.
First time here, great cosy and warm setting, good music and funny chatty staff. Food was absolutely banging and there was decent drinks, can’t complain for the price either. Would absolutely be back againFood: 5/5
Fantastic traditional pub in very old building. Great service. Good selection of beers, amongst which Newcastle Brown Ale and Guinness.Food: 5/5
