About

Bringing the favourites of Malaysia and Singapore to London!

Story

Set in the heart of Chinatown, Rasa Sayang is the only halal restaurant in Chinatown and brings a touch of Malaysia to this celebrated corner of London.
One style of cooking our chef’s follow is known as peranakan, which combines Chinese ingredients and wok techniques with rich Malaysian spices.
The result is a menu full of tangy, aromatic dishes – every one of them as delicious as the next. And alongside our traditional favourites, we introduce new dishes every month, so there’s always something different to try.
If one is looking for a real taste of Malaysian cooking, those dishes labelled as heat zone brings in the ‘kick’ in its rich and flavourful spice and promisingly hot.
We also pride ourselves on our friendly, helpful staff, who are ready to give you a real Malaysian welcome. So pop in and see us when you’re next in town – we promise you won’t be disappointed.

It was a last minute decision and we wasn’t sure if we could get in as it was a Friday dinner. We were there just before 6pm and we were lucky we got a table. And right after that, this place just started to get crowded. The service was fast, most of the staff were friendly and the food was delicious. It meet our expectations of authentic Malaysian/Singaporean food. Apart from the delicious food, I also like how creative they are on using the name of the dishes to quote on the staff t-shirt. It’s very cute and funny. We were only in London for 2 nights before heading home but we had visited this restaurant 3 times 2x dinner and 1x lunch. And all our family members already have their favourite food. We definitely will come back here the next time we visit London.
Beautiful Malaysian food. Presentation might not be the greatest, but believe me, the food is mouthwatering. Everything cooked to perfection . Customer service is good as well. In terms of value for money, really good or even excellent, I should say, taking into account it's central London. Downside, place is very small. Wish they had bigger premises.
My husband and I ventured into Malaysian and Singaporean cuisine for the first time, feeling a bit apprehensive. Encouraged by the rave reviews, we decided to give this place a shot. Despite the long queue, which can stretch to half an hour for dinner, we were determined, and it was worth it. I highly recommend making a reservation via Google beforehand. We opted for the Raffle Laksa bowl, an outstanding representation of Singaporean cuisine. Trust me, this dish alone is worth the visit. The portions are generous—perfect for one person. The diverse flavors, especially the unique coconut broth, initially unfamiliar but soon comforting, felt like a warm hug in a bowl. The noodles were thick and satisfying, the large, well-cooked shrimps, and the clever addition of a boiled egg elevated the dish even further. On our second visit, we made sure to have it again as our last dinner in London. Dylan, our waiter, was exceptionally attentive and friendly, always there when we needed him with extra water and tissues. His hospitality added to our experience immensely. Overall, dining here was a delightful and unique highlight of our London visit. Highly recommended for anyone looking to explore new flavors. The price, around 15 pounds per bowl, is reasonable, making it a great value in London.
It is quite a busy restaurant, however we manage to get a table quickly, which was nice. Our server was a great host, very polite, casual, pleasant, informative and not intrusive. A nice casual restaurant to get comfortable in. The food was delicious! We enjoyed our meal very much, my favourite being the salted egg battered prawns and my partner loves the curry roti. I am already thinking when should I go back to eat again. I ordered a guava non alcoholic cocktail drink - a little too sweet for me so will stick with coke next time, my partner wasn't a fan of the veg but I liked it hence the 4 stars. We are happy we made the choice to visit here today. Will be back soon.
It was nice, but I didn’t think it was the best. The Mee Goreng was a bit bland though the fried chicken that accompanied it was perfect. The Nasi Goreng was very good but not the best I have had. We took a soup that was 3-4 star... The Roti Canai was very excellent. Very friendly and quick service.
Amazing food and service, cannot stop recommending this place to anyone who will listen! Came on a Sunday evening a couple of weeks ago and had the most amazing laksa, portions were generous too. Roti was also an fave. Our waiter was very attentive from the start. The place was clean and had a chilled atmosphere. Excited to come back.Food: 5/5
The worst Malaysian / Singaporean food I’ve had in London. The dishes we had ranged from disappointing to crimes against food. I was so excited to see keropok and sambal tempeh goreng on the menu. The “keropok” was the same prawn crackers with a sweet chilli sauce out of a bottle that you’d expect to get at a provincial Thai take-away. The tempeh was half-heartedly stir-fried with another sweet, cloying sauce. No sambal in sight. The gado gado at least had most of the expected ingredients but was under-seasoned, watery and, like everything else, a washed out facsimile of what it was pretending to be. The Nasi Lemak was served with steamed rice - which I think is actually a crime in Malaysia - and the most embarrassing excuse for achar; some raw carrots that had been waved near some rice vinegar on the pass. The Mee Goreng was comparatively serviceable. Although monotone with rubbery squid it’s hard to completely mess up fried noodles. Go to Dapur, go to Melur, go to Laksamania, go to Roti King, go to Old Chang Kee. Singaporean and Malaysian food can be everything that this isn’t. The service was fine.
My friend recommeneded the place, and I did see the hype, where there was a long line queue. I made a reservation so I was in pretty quickly, but the atmosphere was too packed, and it was a bit stuffy. The food was okay, but did not feel too fresh. It was worth trying, but I think you can find better, with a more relaxing atmosphere.Food: 4/5
A fantastic restaurant with some of the best Halal food I’ve tried in London. I really enjoyed every dish we had here and can’t wait to come back to try more. The Teh Tarik was to die for. Service was polite and fast but could be a little more welcoming as it felt rushed at times. However, I’d recommend to everyone.Food: 5/5
A quick dinner with family, this place never disappoints. The food was served remarkably quickly, we were in & out in 45min without being rushed. Can highly recommend the Nasi Goreng, Rib-eye Beef Ho Fun and Roti Canai. All very authentic and service was top notch. Will continue to be my go-to place in Chinatown.Food: 5/5
