Story

Hale railway station serves the area of Hale in the south of Altrincham, Greater Manchester, England. It is also used by people living in the surrounding areas of Bowdon and Hale Barns. The station is located on Ashley Road. It is on the Mid-Cheshire Line, from Chester to Manchester Piccadilly (8miles) south west of Manchester Piccadilly.HistoryThe station was opened as Peel Causeway by the Cheshire Midland Railway (CMR) on 12 May 1862 when the railway opened from Altrincham to Knutsford. The CMR was amalgamated into the Cheshire Lines Committee (CLC) on 15 August 1867. The station became Peel Causeway for Hale on 1 January 1899, and on 1 January 1902 it was renamed Hale. The station was served by passenger trains from Manchester Central to Northwich and Chester Northgate. The CLC remained as an independent entity until the creation of British Railways (BR) on 1 January 1948, when BR took over operation of the station and the line.

What a hidden gem of a place this is. The food is absolutely fabulous and tasty with very good portions and so reasonable on price. The atmosphere is very friendly and welcoming. Brilliant! Will be visiting here quite often from now on. Thank you all at The Railway.x.Food: 5/5
Pleasant local pub with local draught beers in addition to the mass market ones. There is a large outdoor seated area at the rear with a screen showing the Euro games. Dogs allowed.Service: 4/5
One of the only traditional pubs in the area! Lovely staff, great beers on tap and overall great atmosphere.
Fabulous little find. We were staying at a an airport hotel and had a drive into Hale for something to eat . Pie was Great north pies £6 absolute steal for this fabulous food x
