In a lovely location next to the water, clean and staff are very friendly and accommodating. Food came out relatively fast, fresh and good sized portions at a reasonable price. Beer nice and cold and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Also dog friendly so big bonus, dogs also get free treats and water, will absolutely be back!Food: 5/5
Lovely Old Pub, with great service and friendly staff. Worth stepping in for a cold drink and enjoying the stunning view of the North Coast. Highly recommend...Food: 5/5
Spent the weekend in the Newcastle area, following a Friday night loss to Newcastle Falcons at Kingston Park. Our visit to the North East was epitomised by the welcome in this pub. The Landlady, Leyla, gave us great hospitality experience, sorted out rugby watching on tv, and we enjoyed friendly banter with many of the locals. We were so impressed that we returned the next day and enjoyed a similar experience.
Beautiful location. Staff friendly and welcoming premises clean and welcoming. Food looked excellent. Drinks choice great. Outside seating and lovely singer was on outside for entertainment when we were there. Definitely would recommend a visit to anyone.Service: 5/5
Been a local at this pub for years but I don’t think I will return anytime soon. The Sunday dinner is really bad and one of the worst we have ever had. Overcooked potatoes and rock hard Yorkshire puddings, and watery gravy. Honestly it is not worth the money. The female toilets were in a terrible state recently with dirty toilet roll all over the cubicle and a used tampon and toilet roll with blood on. The toilet was in this state for a few hours and not one member of staff checked the toilets in that time. If you are going to charge an extortionate amount for drinks please clean your toilets. I’ve seen cleaner toilets in the pubs in the centre of North Shields. Unfortunately I won’t be spending anymore money in the pub purely based on the state of the toilets. Having a clean toilet should be the basics of a pub.
Food ok had a problem with starter manager very good at sorting it out. The main was ordered with no chips or onion rings and came out complete with both, so it had to be sent back to correct. Waiters were lacking in manners and waiter skills.Food: 3/5
The worst Sunday dinner I have ever had!! We tried here with our in laws on a sunny Sunday afternoon just because all the chip shops were heaving, me and my husband always wanted to try here but what a disappointment! Maybe they were having a bad day but the place wasn’t exactly busy and we ordered potato skins as a starter which came out burnt and then we ordered 2 lamb dinners, 1 chicken dinner and 1 scampi with chips. There was a table of 6 that came in after our table of 4 and yet they got their food way before us. We waited an hour for the mains to come out after the starter, when they finally came out they were lukewarm, the lamb had to be sent back as it was undercooked and the roast dinners themselves were honestly just terrible. The only thing with flavour on the plate was the gravy! The stuffing was dry and overcooked, the only decent things on the plate were the chicken and the mash but the mash was lukewarm, the veggies weren’t cooked properly so they were crunchy but the worst part was the Yorkshire puddings which were as if they’d been made with a dumpling mix, they were heavy and disgusting and quite frankly inedible. Honestly this was the worst roast dinner I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot. We’d always wanted to try this place but based on this experience we won’t be back! It’s a shame because it’s a lovely building in a nice place but the food is actually disgusting! If you drive past this place then just keep going! We refused to pay in the end, that’s how bad it was.
Real suntrap outside, not so much a garden but loads of benches to choose from. We enjoyed some live acoustic music on a Saturday evening. Can’t speak for the food but plenty of the usual beers and ciders on tap. Cocktails looked good.Atmosphere: 5/5
Popped in for food, nothing like expected for a small pub by the sea. Food was amazing, the lamb was the best I've tasted and my partner is a head chef and worked at some top places! Would highly recommend and planned returning soon already!
Very welcoming pub with an excellent vegan selection of food. Accommodated me without a booking on a busy Sunday lunchtime. The food was absolutely fantastic. My only issue was which of the options to go for. I had Vegan Fish and chips and I'd put it up there with the best I've ever had. Very highly recommended.
