My husband was admitted on a Friday in August with a collapsed lung. The excellent A and E team stabilized him and on the Sunday evening he was having surgery. We were visiting from Yorkshire and were so impressed with everything. The care, expertise, and cleanliness was second to none. Thank you to the entire team for taking should good care of him.
Invited for a food sampling as new kitchen installed now serving fresh in house cooked meals, which is very nutritional for women pregnant and just given birth excellent selection and diverse I'm very hopeful fir the women's future in providing equal and equitable care for all women.
Not a pleasant experience. The waiting period was too long, and considering I spent the night sleeping on a chair, yep, no bed available for overnight admitted patient. Not so great.
Car park charges are high and inevitably you will be at the hospital longer than you would anticipate as appointment times are virtually meaningless. The clinics seem to be overbooked and so are overcrowded . Possibly not the healthiest places to be . Generally the hospital is clean and tidy. There are coffee outlets and there is a WH Smiths shop. Treatment is excellent once you get through to the consultants. The roads around the hospital are busy and there is very limited parking within walking distance. Hence the car park is not only expensive it is also busy. The bus service has a suitable drop off point but for those with mobility issues may find that the railway station is not a convenient option
Having had to visit on a regular basis due to a serious injury. I really can’t fault it. Yes it’s a busy place but my treatment and all staff i’ve had any contact with have been brilliant. From my reasonably long stay to operations to aftercare. My Physio has been amazing and she has encouraged and helped me get back on my feet. I walk much better than i was able at first. She still thinks there’s room for improvement I think maybe not but always walk out feeling better than when I turn up sometimes feeling a little sorry for myself. I know i’ve been many times but even the reception staff in physio department know my name. Faultless
Literally went in to take a photo of the bust sculpture of Our late great Queen's Mother. It looks like the Queen's Mother rather than the Queen. The stars are for the bust. As have never used this particular hospital. Also has a curious mirrored looping sculpture outside of it's entrance. That I felt would be much better surrounded by water than the flower arrangement at it's base. And the reclining bronze Romanesque figures outside too. Although I think they're possibly to do with neighbouring Metchley Roman Fort.
I wish them always good health. They really deserve every kind word, from their staff and doctors. I appreciate it. Thank you very much to all of them. my husband stayed there near 2 weeks because of his kidney transplant surgery.
The majority of staff are lovely you obviously get one or two that are not as caring. Communication on a daily basis is shocking though. The nurses should be given the information to give you as the doctors fly by for 5 minutes a day and if you miss them you don’t hear anything. As family you want to know if the medication is working and what the blood tests show especially when the patient has sepsis as it’s very worrying. Telling the patient who is 88 doesn’t help as they can’t remember what has been said.
I visited the burns unit of this hospital for treatment last December 2023, and I must say I was so impressed with the level of care and services I received. From the moment I walked into the hospital, staff were so welcoming and attentive, ensuring that I was comfortable and informed throughout my stay. The nurses were knowledgeable and compassionate, providing me with excellent care and support during my treatment. Facilities were also clean, modern and well-maintained providing a peaceful and comfortable environment for patients to recover. My experience at the hospital was exceptional, and I would highly recommend this facility to anyone in need of quality medical care. Thank you to the amazing staff at the burns unit of Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for providing such outstanding services during my time of need. God bless you all.
I'm having vital treatment for Macular degeneration. The injections aren't pleasant but they are saving my eyesight. The last 2 appointments have been cancelled by the hospital without letting me know until I've arrived at reception. There are statistics for people who don't turn up to appointments. I'd like to know the statistic for the cancelled appointments without telling the patient. I now feel compelled to waste time phoning the hospital to find out if future appointments will go ahead.
