Moseley Hall Hospital

Story

Moseley Hall is a Grade II listed 18th-century country house which was situated in parkland in Moseley, Birmingham. The hall itself is now part of Moseley Hall Hospital and much of the surrounding estate has been developed for roads and housing. The hall was built c.1795 of ashlar with a slate roof in three storeys with a five-bay frontage. A central porch is supported by four pairs of Tuscan columns. The dovecote in the grounds is also Grade II listed.HistoryThe Moseley estate came, after the Dissolution of the Monasteries, into the Grevis family, who rebuilt the hall in its present location in the early 1600s. After the family ran into financial difficulties the estate was sold in 1768 to wealthy manufacturer and banker John Taylor of Bordesley Park. His son John built a new house in a plain classical style alongside the previous one and commissioned Humphry Repton to landscape the park. The new building was set on fire by a mob during the Priestley Riots of 1791 when occupied by the Dowager Countess of Carhampton. The damaged house was restored by 1796 and John Taylor jnr moved in. After his death it passed to his son James, High Sheriff of Worcestershire for 1826, who also lived there. After James's death in 1852 the property was let until 1889, when the hall and 22acre of the estate were sold to Richard Cadbury, MP, of the chocolate making family. The rest of the land was developed for housing following the building of Salisbury and Chantry roads, linking Alcester Road to Pershore Road via the estate.

Whilst visiting my Nan on ward 6 today, the staff were amazing leaving me reassured my nan and all other patience were in safe hands, there was plenty of staff to assist with feeding and offering patience assistance into bed if they required it, i would just like to say a massive thank you, Mosley hall hospital has been a very pleasant experience, the cafe is also a must visit. Thanks again Liz is granddaughter
PLEASE AVOID THIS HOSPITAL AT ALL COSTS! They aren’t concerned about the patients health. Their one and only concern is to demotivate you and make you feel like there is no hope for you anymore so they can send you back home. No compassionate care or humanity whatsoever The only time the therapists all work as a team is to conspire to discharge you with the excuse that they need to “empty the nhs waiting list”. They do not care about helping their patients recover. They will demotivate their patient’s just to achieve their goal that is to get rid of you! Save yourself the trauma and DO NOT SEND ANYONE HERE…Unless you want a place that will make them/you feel completely hopeless.
One of the best hospitals in the UK and the staffs were very friendly and nice. I received the best service in this hospital. Especially ward 9, rehab centre. Scott, the physiotherapist put a lot of effort on me and encouraged me to be back on my feet, including the rest of the staffs. I would definitely recommend this hospital. Thank you everyone in ward 9.
Absolutely disgusting treatment of my father. You should all be ashamed of yourselves. There is no care no compassion nothing on this ward. All they care about is kicking the patient out. You should all be ashamed. Truly. The level of service towards patients is zero. The care is zero. My father has suffered spasticity in his arm to the point it should NEVER have got to through clear neglect by people at this ward.
Very impressed by ward 7 and the staff on it; the staff on the ward are exceptionally helpful. The hospital is let down by a very unpleasant and aggressive member of staff on reception, at the main entrance. She requires updated training on compassion & general manners.
Staff on ward 7 were friendly and professional. Many thabks to them aswell as the physio team and the doctors. Walked in unable to stand was back walking in no time. Many thanks to them all
I spent the best part of 5-6 months here for rehabilitation after emergency spinal surgery on Ward 9 Neuro Ward. It was the best recovery experience I've ever had....the staff from HCA`s, Nurses, physios, ward Sisters to catering and domestics and agency staff were all nothing short of amazing! Every single staff member I had contact with was professional, friendly, empathetic, had good bed side manner and most importantly TIME for every patient they cared for. I got to know quite a few members of staff on ward 9, day and night staff and the hard work they put in daily running the ward and caring for very ill patients. In all honesty that ward became my safe place. I've made life long friends as a result of my time on ward 9 and the level of care Was second to none!! It's undergoing a big refurbishment right now which will be fantastic when it's complete. It's been good going back visiting the staff, they really helped me through a really tough time in my life. So I'd like to Thank Ward 9 for their dedication, support and guidance during my time there. There are far too many staff members to name but they know who they are...THANK YOU!
My mother was admitted to Ward 6 at Moseley Hall Hospital. She stayed there for 6 weeks until she sadly passed away on 27th June. Every member of staff that was involved in her care and comfort were amazing. They were all so kind and caring to both my mother and the visiting family. This made the last few weeks of her life as good as it could have been, given the circumstances of her failing health. Thank you to everyone on Ward 6 from all the family of Emily Carlyle.
I couldn’t off wished for better care if I asked . My dad derek was in ward 5 and everyone was so nice and worked so hard . . Thank you everyone on ward 5
Father was on ward 8 for 3 months. Fantastic place for rehab. Majority of staff friendly and helpful. Awful food which needs to be improved. Had negative effects on father's mental health and other patients felt same way. Please improve.
