I have attended both Fridays and Saturdays painting classes since January 2018 I do not attend the summer terms as I travel to Spain and will miss too many sessions. However, I love my courses and my tutors are excellent. I belong to Friends of PSAD, and really enjoy the benefits. I don’t know what I would do without these classes. I have learnt a humongous amount of stuff since I started. The reception staff are helpful and so kind as well. I paint in oils and acrylics. I’m so delighted I found these courses.
Very good pottery facilities but the course is very hard to enrol as it is filled up as soon as it opens. Sometimes there are not enough throwing wheel for everyone.
Terrible experience: My mum was a long time student, taking various oil painting classes. As a pensioner and wheelchair user, coming to these classes were financially a stretch but as art is her passion and generally her only social outlet she was happy to pay the fees and buy all her own paint and equipment to take the class. After enrolling on a new term and attending once, she sadly had a stroke and had to have surgery. We asked if she could roll over her tuition fee to a future date and resume her class when recovered. The school flatly refused. Even though the class was not full and it would have been easy to do so. They did the same during lockdown. This business is registered as a charity but they operate as complete sharks. They seem to be far more interested in taking your money than supporting the community.
This school offers a lot of day and evening art classes. Building is nice and the teachers are committed and professional. In the holidays there are a lot of subsidised courses for kids and young people. My daughter has done lots of different art related classes here and she has enjoyed every one of them! We did a parent and child ceramic class here too and it was good fun and I am impressed with the teaching! We need more of these communities in every town!
I love my school of art. It's such a great break from everyday life. It's amazing to have this school available to the community. It certainly improves my days. Besides all this, this is a very professional school. You can easily develop artistic skills that open up the doors for a new career in the plastic arts. The instructors are all professional artists with lots of experience and the atmosphere of the school is welcoming, open and friendly.
I recently attended a photography course for beginners. Half the course was focused on how to use digital camera properly and the our half was focused on using photoshop to edit photos. The instructor was great, however the computers are very old and slow. This meant that we were severely limited on the use of photoshop to edit pictures and a great deal of time was wasted in waiting for pictures to upload and open. The computers are not fit for purpose and I emailed the Head of the school to let them know 2 weeks ago. I've yet to hear back anything form them and I see they are offering summer school courses in photography. I strongly advise anyone considering signing up, not to do so as you will end up being extremely frustrated, as all of us who did the photography course were. Until they change the computers, it is a waste of time and money.
Attended Riverside Walk with tutor Mr Pond! Perspective depth and tone This is old Schooling at its best
We tried this place for the Family Activity. It was nice and enjoyed it but the reception complained about us coming on scooters. The world is concerned with people using cars and petrol, the borough should support the use of bicycles and scooters. In 2019 a place shouldn't promote the use of cars over greener, healthier alternatives.
Brilliant place.. they run lots of art and design courses.. did a one day oil painting intro class.. realy enjoyed it and learned a lot there is also a cafe with home made stuff and a roof terrace
I did two terms of botanical drawing classes with Jaco. He was very knowledgeable, inspiring and encouraging. I would definitely recommend and consider going back when I have more free time.
