Story

Camberwell College of Arts is one of London's leading art and design institutions.

Our unique studio culture offers students the freedom and support to explore their individual creativity using facilities that embrace both traditional craftsmanship and the latest digital technology.

Camberwell is one of London's smaller art colleges, with around 1,600 Foundation, Undergraduate and Postgraduate students on our Fine Art, Design and Conservation courses.

Camberwell's south east London location is also home to a thriving art scene that hosts a variety of galleries, project spaces and studios that our students, staff and graduates work and exhibit in.

Many of Camberwell's graduates have gone on to gain international prominence within their chosen field, with the College's alumni including Jody Barton, Gillian Carnegie, Alice Hawkins, Junko Mori, Kate Moross, Gregor Muir, Matthew Stone and United Visual Artists Creative Director Matthew Clark.

A good college. I went there to visit the exposition with the projects of the graduation students from the graphic design domain. Nice!
I recommend going to Camberwell college if you want your creativity and confidence to die forever. Added benefit of the sculpture budget being used to pay for the head of departments sculpture materials, rather than going to the students.
A fantastic University in Camberwell with lot's of studios and work rooms that the students make full use of. The Artworks on display on the PV night was very good and the imagination and skills they had learnt shined through.
I went for interview and the man was extremely uninterested and rude, made me feel uncomfortable. 'We welcome you to Camberwell'. I was unsuccessful to the interview, I understand it happens but they wrote 'your work was less developed than others'. That is disappointing as all students are individuals, you don't judge individuals based on others work!! Extremely disappointed.
I could not have asked for a better space to do my MA Illustration at. All the teaching staff that I interacted with were always very helpful, encouraging me to develop new lines of inquiry everyday. The fluidity of the curriculum altered my perspective about Art and Design in many, many new ways. Thank you for everything that I learntand un-learnt during my time with you.
Went to have my interview for a degree offer. I was emailed to come at 1. When i got to the campus i got given a sheet saying my interview had been moved to 4 i was npt allowed to leave the centre during that time i had to sit in the waiting room and wait. The centre its self looks very run down and is very dull for a art campus. Also they charge for the art materials you use as other universities i visisted art materials are free.
I went here for 3 years to get a degree. I did well but I still can't find a job. Don't believe the propaganda the lecturer's tell you about finding jobs. Not everyone wants to live a lifestyle defined by Its Nice That.
The MA staff were all very knowledgable and supportive. Studying at Camberwell helped to focus my research interests and develop a critical approach to my practice. I wish I could do it all over again.
i was a student at camberwell for 5 years in the 40's so that makes me an 80 plus year old.woman whose lived an extremely interesting and full life., At that time you didn't need G.c.e's to gain entrance so I entered in the junior school and at 16 I was in the intermediate group where you got a general intro into lettering; life drawing, sculpture, architecture, art history, and i chose lithography as my personal choice. I then chose to take an N.D.D. in fine art, and was in the painting school for 2 years , working in oils. I know this is not an assessment as such of Camberwell in the present day, however my experiences during that time were both memorable and extremely valuable, both for passing on knowledge and craft skills which have served me well all my life.. I raised a large family and throughout my life have kept up my drawing and painting . going to Canada to visit my eldest daughter and working over there in ink drawings, charcoal, and oil. Whilst I have never made it as a recognised artist I have produced to my satisfaction work that i am proud of. All this is mood - I just wanted to say..... thanks to Camberwell -- may your tutors and support staff keep the flag of creativity flying far into the future despite all the problems this world is now facing cheers Eileen Gill / previously known as Eileen Bennett 1953/58 P.S. I got my N.D.D.
Absolute shambles, this place should be shut down for wasting the time of young people who have been fooled into giving up valuable years of their youth to fulfill middle class aspirations building up debt and getting them absolutely nowhere in life.
