I joined the gym a few months ago after not exercising for quite some time due to my previous gym's closure for renovation. I really enjoy the classes at this gym, I just wish they had more outside of work hours. I was really impressed with the staff who are incredibly friendly and approachable. I really appreciate Obi's core classes which are fun, make you work hard and who is incredibly knowledgeable. Sandra and Sadie's classes are great and really feel like a good workout. At my previous gym, I was nervous about using the equipment so never did and stuck to classes, but here, the staff have been so helpful in introducing the machines and can confidentially use them now. I do agree with other reviewers though that it is frustrating waiting for the machines while the person is just on their phone.
PureGym Colchester has great equipment and very clean. Love all the staff! But special shout out to Thomas for being super supportive as I was a bit nervous to go to the gym for the first time. Always waves and says hi when I’m in :
Unfortunately the gym has not met even my most basic expectations.nnThere is only ONE flat bench press rack. This is just unacceptable. The gym was basically empty when I attended yet I had to wait for 20 minutes to start my workout.nnThe gym floor, especially upstairs, was very dirty and untidy.nnThere was no sanitiser in sight, and I saw teenagers sneezing on machine handles, whilst complaining about how ill they were.nnThe bar stoppers supplied don’t grip the bar so are completely useless.nnThe men’s changing room absolutely stink - there’s a clear ventilation issue that needs to be addressed.nnThe variety and placement of equipment was just odd and nonsensical.nnI wanted to leave the place the second I stepped inside. It’s literally the worst gym I have ever seen.
I didnt exercise for a long time but I am very glad I made my first step with our trainer Emma . It was a core group workout. I felt tired but wonderful afterwards. Emma had checked up on all of us to make sure we were pushing to achieve great results but also to stay safe whilst getting stronger. I strongly recommend any class Emma does.
I have done multiple classes with Aaron. Each class has been well delivered. Aaron explains the instructions very clearly and shows you each exercise. This makes the class easier to follow, he also gives alternative exercises so anyone can get the full benefits from his classes.nnI have been a member at PureGym for the past 7 months. The first day i joined I booked onto get started. I was shown around by Obi who was very welcoming and answered any questions I had. Since then I have used the gym regularly. The gym is always clean. I regularly see staff cleaning. The classes are brilliant and they have some really good instructors. I have learned a lot from attending classes and this has built my confidence in and outside the gym. All the instructors have their own way of making the class their own. Sadie, Obi and Mark are all very knowledgeable and run their classes very well. Always polite, helpful and give clear instructions. Matt is very approachable and makes everyone feel welcome.
