This is a bit like the 'slaughtered lamb' in American werewolf in London but with no drinkers and terrible bar snacks

This place is a complete dive and possibly unwelcoming to non locals. From the outside it looks closed, ancient curtains which, if they're open, (usually closed) you can see old broken furniture in the windows, maybe this is to put off outsiders. Being a local (although due to family living away for most of my life, my first language is English and I've lost my Welsh accent) I ventured in to check out the pool table as me and my partner are always looking for somewhere to play. I couldn't see a price on the pool table so asked the barmaid "is it 50p?" her reply in a not too impressed manner "only if you're drinking". "I'm sorry?" I asked. "Only if you're drinking, we're not a pool hall" she says in a miserable way. Nice, I felt welcome there, not. "we were going to drink of course, but now we're not" I said as I left the pub, also dropping a "Diolch yn fawr, Hwyl a chi wedi'n" (Thanks a lot, see you later) in case she thought I was a tourist. Judging by her attitude they weren't too bothered about any custom from an English speaking non local. Hopefully a couple of the people in the pub recognised me and told her I was local. ... Will never return there.

we booked a weekend shortly after the new owners took over, we were impressed with the overall level of service and found the facilities to be of a high standand.
