We bought a Mercedes that within a day had developed faults. After a 2 weeks the car had been in the garage for 13 days out of the 14. Reported numerous faults only a couple got sorted. After 5 weeks of ownership the car burst into flames with my family inside. Luckily we got out of the car in time. Never trust this garage. The chap who I dealt with was fantastic and never to be heard from again. I have phone calls recording the abuse received from a member of staff. They had performed an MOT however on inspection from a second garage there were massive safety implications. Very rarely did they answer calls and never answered emails. The car has now been written off due to fire damage. The relevant authorities are looking into the matter
Bought a used BMW from these guys, place is pretty small run out of an old garage forecourt but seems well run and they have quite a few higher end used cars in stock. I called in advance to arrange a same day viewing, had a look round the car and took it for a quick test drive no probs. The guys were upfront about the cars history, and all paperwork was readily available for me to look through. I negotiated a decent price with them and an MOT and limited 3 month warranty were included with the offer of extending the warranty. Service was quick and efficient, the car was taken off for its MOT there and then whilst I completed the sale and paperwork and ready for me to pick up a couple of days later. Only negative point with the whole experience, when I test drove the car it had the fuel warning light on and less than 10 miles in the tank according to the onboard computer I even mentioned it was low to the guy who came with me, after agreeing the purchase and picking up the car 3 days later after its off site MOT the car would not start as there was literally no fuel in the tank, not even fumes so the guys ran to the fuel station next door with a fuel can and put about 5 litres in to get me on my way but delayed me about 20 minutes as they had to get the fuel, top it up, then get it primed into the engine etc before it would start. Whilst I appreciate that I never negotiated any fuel with the sale I would have liked to think there would be enough in it to at a minimum get it to start if not to the nearest fuel station when I arrive to collect it. If not for the fuel incident In would have given 5 stars. UPDATE: The car I bought has sadly developed a gearbox fault luckily 1 week before the end of the warranty! Unfortunatley the 3 month warranty given is barely worth the paper its printed on, hardly covers anything and in any event only up to £150 per claim and up to 1 hour of labour. This is admittedly a third party warranty given by the dealer so not directly their responsibility but just wanted to highlight just how poor this warranty is for any potential customers.
Do not under any circumstances buy off this mob i was completely ripped off buying my 17 year old daughter her first car within 3 months the car was done they then proceeded to authorise £311 of work to be done on the car with absolutely no communication or permission from myself or my daughter to do so saying that they would pay for it to then tell me after god knows how many phone calls from ME to them that it was my fault the car was not working and that their warranty company had tested the car even though he couldn't tell me when the warranty company had no record of the car when unbeknown to Derek the so called car salesman that i had spoken to the garage owner and was told all issues that were wrong with the car. This is not under no circumstances over!! Trading Standards have been contacted and they will pay!! STEER CLEAR at all costs go with a reputable company DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS.
A mixed bag. Good: Very nice salesman and let us do our own thing and was not pushy at all. Got a nice car at a good price. Bad: When we went to pick the pick up the car, we waited while the car was "valeted" - the car was not even close to being clean inside. There was a grinding noise from the back left wheel and thought new brake pads would be needed, took it to another garage and they informed us that the brake pads were actually fitted back to front!!
Spent near £6k on an Audi, a fair price, but it only lasted 8 weeks before a serious oil pump failure, Derek is not answering my emails giving him the chance to put things right. trading standards will be contacted next, as under the sale of goods act, this car was not fit for purpose wish i'd seen these reviews before buying...
I went to see the car which on the photos looked good and it's allegedly MOT'd and good to go but when you start the engine there's lots of warnings flashing into your eyes and lots of pastics in the interior demolished not just broken, the car looked like inside it would go through the war. Normally I don't bother with feedback but this time I will make an exception to warn people before going there as this might be waste of petrol only just like in my case. When informed about the problems suddenly they say it's minor and it can be fixed quickly but just a second ago the person said it's good to go everything is ok with it...
I went with my daughter to Port dundas car sales to look at different cars as she has just passed her driving test. We spoke to a man called Derek who was really helpful and spent a lot of time with us looking over and discussing different cars. We settled on a Renault Clio which came with a fresh service and MOT which put my mind at rest as obviously I want my daughter to be safe on the road. Really nice garage and people and we would be happy to go back when we are looking at cars again. Thanks.
Do not buy a car from Port Dundas Car Sales! I bought a Vauxhall Astra 56 plate back in January and has been an absolute nightmare. When I went along to look at the car I couldn't test drive it because it was tucked behind numerous cars in a crowded fore court. I was told it was in good condition and because of the low mileage I never thought otherwise this was a huge mistake on my part. Bought the car, the guys were pleasant enough and had the car "valeted". It was stinking and full of damp and I had to have the car cleaned again once I was home which was expensive and the guy found mould under the seat hence the smell Just after the 3 months warranty that I had to pay for the timing chain went on the car causing it to make a very loud tractor sound. Every garage I went to said this car shouldnt have been sold to me like this. It cost £800 to fix. Of course Port Dundas were no longer interested. There has been so many other things that have gone wrong with the car since then, no service history nothing. I realise a lot of these things could have been avoided if it wasn't down to my naivety with regards to cars but never the less what a pile of junk!
Contacted Port Dundas Car Sales enquiring about a car by email. I have received nothing but sarcastic responses from the responder. I enquired about the 'warranty' that they provide, however he failed to be able to explain what that would cover. The car that I was enquiring about was said to have an MOT, however when contacting them they explained that the car would not pass it's MOT and I would need to pay them almost 700 pounds more for them to pass it for me. Extremely unprofessional service. Take your money elsewhere...
I could spend an hour typing my issues but I won't. All I'll say is this, don't go near them, but if you do, get all paperwork and keep it and insist you have your own MOT done prior to you buying any car. Do not trust their MOT paperwork or the garage where it was conducted. If things do go wrong expect to be ignored and lied too. I only hope trading standards and other vehicle agency's have them in their sights. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
