What a great experience and a beautiful house. We had a great sociable dinner with the other guests which was a nice change. The suites are incredible and there is service to match. Thank you for your hospitality Peter and family!

Pool House is a very interesting place. Approaching from the road (which, unless you are coming by private yacht, is probably your only option) it is quite unassuming. Inside is another world. It is clear to see that the family that own and run Pool House have put an immense amount of care, effort and undoubtedly money in to restoring the property and it is a delight to stay there. If I was being completely honest then some of the furniture is a little tired, and the relatively new PVC windows slightly detract from the otherwise period features (however are almost essential given the property regularly takes a bashing from gale force winds) however the hospitality of the staff and family is second to none. The evening meal is above average, with an extensive wine menu. The bar is one of the best stocked bars I've ever seen. The breakfast was fantastic (a great selection including different fish options). I selected the the porridge "starter" served in a wooden bowl with cream and a "wee nip" of whisky followed by haddock, smoked I think. I look forward to returning.

I don't have enough good things to say about the Pool House Hotel. It is certainly unique and it is excellent but in so many different ways. Welcoming and homely, it feels like stepping into your own home. Except the selection of wine is far better, the food is certainly of a standard that I don't get at home unless my wife is cooking (!). And the views are to die for. With a limited number of rooms, I think its 6, luxury, en suite bedrooms - you wont feel overcrowded either. For most guests there, this is the ultimate secluded retreat. A small corner of luxury in the middle of some of the most remote and spectacular scenery in the world. I highly recommend.
