Good food. Staff really helpful and accommodating
Lovely staff, but too few for the number of guests, we stayed in room 2 which was dated but OK. Carpet covered in white dog hairs and remote control had been chewed presumably by the dog that shed its coat on the floor. Food was very good but limited menu as items had sold out. On checkout in the morning waited for ten mins to try and talk to someone about the room but gave up. Room is overpriced when you compare to other local venues
Went for Sunday lunch on a good recommendation, looks like it must be hit and miss. Food was good quality and well presented just a shame it was a bit on the cold side and to compound that they took 5min to bring the veg and gravy, after placing the mains. We asked for desert menu but gave up after another long wait and just got the bill.
3 of us arrived for a Friday lunch. On arrival we noticed that the car park looked very quiet. Not a huge choice of food on offer but we all managed to choose something. The food was OK but nothing to shout about. Lots of much better places to eat in Abergavenny.
Restaurant very quiet with a party of 30 due in, got there early to make sure we ordered at the time we had agreed yet meals were all out at different times, steaks over cooked to the point of not edible. My middle daughter waited 30 minutes after the 1st meal was brought for her food. Service was a disaster and for a pub that I have visited many times I can safely say it’s my last. God help the party of 30 as they couldn’t get our table of 7 right!
Decent food, awful service! Roast came with no veg, had to ask, no sauces offered, wanted horseradish but also wanted a hot meal so couldn't wait. Drinks took 30 mins. Food was however quite nice! Once it all arrived. This place needs some work on their service!
A great place for a fairly good meal and a drink, on the outskirts of this lovely town. It has a beautiful garden to sit out and enjoy the all too rare sunshine. Disappointingly, there is only one disable-friendly parking space, so it's usually pot luck if you need to park close-by.
Well where do I start! We came here for my nans birthday and it was absolutely appalling from start to finish! Firstly the drinks took a while to come and when they did the larger and beer was flat and had a funny taste to them. Secondly when the meats came out it was all cold, there was two very small bowls of vegetables to share between twelve of us! The staff had a shocking attitude when we asked for some more vegetables and there was hardly any gravy. By the time we had a check back it was too late. Staff then came over and gave us the desert menu without clearing our table first. Thirdly we had ordered desert's and the pre orders came out at least 15 minutes after the ones we ordered were brought out. After being asked what sides did we want with the desert's it still came out with the wrong order. Overall the service was appalling and we will most definitely not be returning here again!
Food is good but they never seem to have enough staff on, but they are very friendly when you find them.
This hotel/pub is just fantastic. We stayed here last night and from start to finish were made to feel very welcome. We took our dog and he also was made to feel very welcome. The room was fantastic, clean and warm. The food we had in the evening was just delicious we had a 3 course meal, despite there being a party of 50 dining at the same time. The staff were happy and added to the great service! Keep up the good work guys you’re doing a great job! Helen, Paul and Archie Barker
