I have been to the Angel for many years and each time I was impressed by the service and the food. The staff are welcoming and highly professional and this has been consistent on all of my visits for the past years. This time, we stayed for a weekend and we were again impressed. The room was lovely , spacious with very good coffee and a little welcoming note on the bedside table. Dinner was excellent, I recommend the crab, seasoned perfectly and of course the bread which comes from their own bakery. Breakfast was delightful, croissant was as good as you can get in a French bakery! The place and the atmosphere are so welcoming that we certainly will be back!
From the moment we walked through the door we felt very welcome. We were a little early and our table wasn't ready so we went to the bar area and enjoyed a prosecco to start our afternoon off with a bang. After a very short time our table was ready and we were escorted and seated, then the menu for the high tea was explained. The high quality, well thought out vegan option was just perfect. We were so impressed with the presentation and service by all staff, nothing was too much trouble. The room was full of other diners but it was not overcrowded and it was not too loud. A wonderful touch was the presentation for our wedding anniversary which added to our time there. First class service with attention to detail. Beautiful setting, excellent service. Great selection of teas, pretty bone China tea sets. Delicious desserts & warm tarts but sandwiches could have been better as we found them a bit plain in taste. Parking behind premises very handy & location perfect for walking around & exploring town.Service: 5/5
Quite disappointing, went as a nice treat for my partner and I and for what we spent just wasn't worth the money I'm afraid. My vegan burger didn't taste of anything and dry it ended up just falling apart on my plate. Friend ordered soup and just was not eatable at all we had to send it back had the plate taken away and no offered anything to replace it or apologized and see if there was anything they could do.Just took the plate and nothing, no apology or nothing.
Staying about 15 miles away and booked thanks to a recommendation. Early evening meal that was very nice. Steak sandwich for the gf and a nice burger for me. Friendly and attentive service. Recommended. Thanks from Marc and Joanne.Rooms: 5/5

A delicious meal in lovely surroundings. Thank you Patrick for such sensitive and well pitched service. A birthday gateau with candle appeared after only briefly mentioning the occasion during the meal. Thank you.
A lovely hotel, we went for Sunday lunch, starters were lovely, as were the breads from their own bakery. My husbands beef dinner was lovely, we both ordered the beef cooked medium, mine came like old shoe leather, it was replaced but I couldn't eat it as I couldn't cut it, it was so tough. I was informed by the waitress that there were 2 chefs...obviously I had the one who wasn't the best.. They did take mine off the bill but it spoilt our day. I won't be returning.
Yes indeed. I think I sent an incomplete review. Please note that my party placed an order for drinks to 3 different members of staff, including a Maitre D. After about half an hour of waiting another waiter came to take our order. We decided to leave at this point as this was not acceptable. I mentioned to the employee at the reception desk that we were disappointed with the level of service received and the very poor customer care. In addition our time had been wasted. Show quoted text
Lovely lunch absolutely amazing. Overcharged me for x2 extra drinks check the bill accident I am sure. Lovely meal.
