About

Phoenix, Ridgeway

Story

Boasting orginal beams and fire places in the snugs and the Hayloft the orginal parts of the Phoenix Inn are some 400 years old. In days gone by when the Phoenix was a coaching inn, it is reported that a traveller murdered a young serving wrench in the grounds of the pub and her presesence can still be felt today. Serving excellent food and offering a fine selection of ales, this is a traditional inn where you will always receive a warm welcome.

"The Phoenix in Ridgeway is a pub that's fresh and ready to serve you a chargrilled feast. We are both passionate about the pub and flame grill experts, fired up to give you a great experience, whether it's a steak sandwich at lunch midweek, a succulent burger on special family occasion or a gourmet ribeye on a weekend date-night. We know our craft - uncomplicated, just quality ingredients and products prepared exceptionally well in a modern, comfortable pub environment and served by our friendly team of real people. At Phoenix treat yourself to a quality experience in a comfortable, familiar and relaxed setting."

Usually great food and service but today not good. Order was wrong staff didn't seem to no what they was doing just had a awful burnt fish. But will go again because we love the place for next time.
Had a lovely meal here yesterday, it was wonderful to catch up with one of my friends Mathew Lowe, I remembered I had only cooked for him in the past so figured out it was his turn to cook lol. I almost managed to finish my mixed grill but it was a great sized portion, the woman had Fish chips and peas and really enjoyed it too. Good to catch up with Matty, the atmosphere is excellent, friendly helpful staff, lovely place, will deffinately be visiting again, much love mate.
Used to call to the Phoenix 35 years ago when I was 1st dating my now wife, she's from Mosborough, myself Rotherham. I don't have any bad memories of the place apart from the double exit car park exit used to be treacherous, which eventually lead to someone crashing into my wife's car on the brow of the hill. Now blocked off so... Anyway. Lovely place, decor is very comfortable and a wide variety of interesting ales. Not easy finding somewhere that does a 16oz T-Bone but now, indeed, I've found one of my happy places hehe... T-Bone and an Abbots and I'm set : cracking menu and service!
Just been for brunch with granddaughter. 1st time that I have been there. We both chose from the vegetarian menu. The food was very good and tasty. Generous portions. Staff were friendly and efficient. I will definitely go there again. Good value for the .
The Phoenix has had an amazing makeover and feels so cozy and welcoming, almost like a lovely modern home. The food was very good, hot and well presented. There were 4 of us and we all received our various meals together in good time. We will definitely visit this pub again.
Been here several times and the pub itself it's lovely, the outside has amazing views and the staff are really friendly. The food however, is not so great - sounds great on the menu but not generally what you receive. We've eaten there 4 or 5 times now, but all the meals have been fairly below par each time. Meals are more expensive than a Wetherspoons, and less enjoyable.
Visited here so many times over the years, and always been satisfied with the food and service. Came this time for an anniversary meal... The food wasn't so great... Nachos were cold on arrival, so were my partner's chips. Sweet potato fries only just cooked, and onion rings were stringy... Ended up wasting most of it.
This was our first time back at the Phoenix for lunch after several years - we are visitors to the area. We liked it then and we liked it today. We again enjoyed decent food, attentive staff and restful surroundings. We didn't really want to leave.
Overall a nice pub and it was very busy for a Saturday lunch time with many having meals. This being said the cost of meals seemed on the high price point and whilst the meals where nice there was nothing overly special it was just pub grub.
We held our party here for our 90 year old mum today. The staff were very good accomodating all our needs, and the food was amazing, with the speciality sausage rolls to die for, thanks very much for a five star service.
