Peveril of the Peak

About

Striking Victorian Irish pub situated on an island between Chepstow street and Bridgewater street.

Story

Sitting on an island of land between Chepstow Street and Bridgewater Street this tile clad Victorian pub certainly stands out from its surroundings. The building dates back to the early 19th Century but the cladding was added in 1900. The name is said to commemorate a horse-drawn stagecoach that ran between Manchester and London.
Th Peveril offers a selection of well kept real ales, lagers, bottled beers and spirits at reasonable prices in a warm and friendly pub environment. As far as pub facilities go there is a dart board, pool table and football table on offer as well as a very popular jukebox. For those who want a nice quiet drink there is also a lovely lounge room to sit back and have a chat with old friends.

Great pub with historic interior and photos of famous manks on the wall that have had a pint there. Great staff and beers.
Really nice old fashioned style pub. Takes you back to the way pubs used to be but still with a friendly atmosphere. Worth a visit
Surely the top 3 pubs of England ... I've been all over...... This is well and truly up there. Great staff, amazing beer and WOW... history on steroids
Good selection of beers and amazing decor! Table football, pool and jukebox too. A proper nice pub!
Love the original glazed tiles and the old world feel of this classic Manchester pub. We sat in the original Snug where the service buttons were still in the walls. The seating was uncomfortable and the cast iron stools weren't much better. We enjoyed the guest fruit porter and Guinness, a great range of real ales were on offer.
Lovely old pub, leaden windows. Small rooms lead off from the entrance, which was nice to see. Good beer, four real ales in at the time of my visit.
A great chance find walking past on our way back from a museum. Beautiful, tiled exterior leading to a welcoming interior and a wonderfully kept pint of Landlord. A great pub…..
A jem of a pub with a fabulous choice of beers with friendly staff and beer drinkers. One to visit again.
Brilliant old school pub with a community atmosphere. Packed at weekends but still feels friendly. Unique central bar serving all sides.
Kept looking at this pub every time we passed. It has a very striking appearance and is even more interesting inside. Apparently the pub is nearly 200 years old. The craftsmanship inside is wonderful.
