The refit that this great pub deserved. I was thoroughly upset when I thought The Deansgate had switched its famous outdoor string lights off for good, seeing it boarded up. But it was a breath of fresh air to see it completely refurbished to a high standard. This really opens up this side of Deansgate and makes it an attractive place to eat and drink. Inside, the place is roomy and modern, with a hint if heritage. The newly painted green walls, ceilings along with new light fittings are a masterpiece and a striking. There’s three floors to choose from, as well as two outdoor terraces- perfect for summer. And of course, a wide selection of beers. There’s only a tiny niggle for me, sometimes the bar staff lack a bit if confidence in pulling pints, and can often pour pints with no/little head. But this of course can be sorted easily!
So glad to see the pub reopen after a shutdown. Now a Greene King pub but same layout. Boothroyd remembers the upstairs roof terraces two for summer drinks. Sadly it is January. Surprisingly large pub with three floors and 2 bars. Taylor's Landlord is the guest ale. GK IPA and a GK house bitter. .. not one I want again. Should have had Landlord says Booth. So he did next round. Missed out on asking for my CAMRA discount first round. Sunday lunch £16 beef / £15 chicken. £13 for daily pie, burgers £13.50 etc. 3xpub plates £15. Happy the pub is back.
First time visiting since reopening, and we were not disappointed. The layout is basically the same with the quirky pew like seating on one of the walls. The staff seemed a little uncertain of where things were and if they stocked certain items such as Ginger beer or certain types of wine but they persisted and were helpful. We put this down to new staff following the re opening. Nice atmosphere and pleasant decor, all in all a nice experience. Handy for the metro as not far from Deansgate/Castlefield. Went there tonight at about 5.15 and found it very quiet and got a seat for a change, which was nice. Met a gentleman from Ireland who was a rugby fan and he was having a great time also.
A great time spent here with friends. Quick service, friendly staff, clean. Everything a decent and proper pub should be. Well done. A firm favourite.
Great to see this pub opened and thriving. Great crowd in and fine cask ales. Well worth a call...
Fantastic pub! Been going here since it reopened in November, always a great atmosphere and the food is top-notch! Prices are also reasonable for a city centre pub too. I'd definitely recommend!
nice new pub to go in, its really affordable and all staff were polite. There's 3 floors where you can sit and the terraces have a beautiful view of the city. I can't wait for my next visit
Lovely, traditional interior...excellent city pub. Draught ale at £3.90. which is excellent for a pub in central Manchester. Range was disappointing though, only Greene King IPA and Deansgate beer brewed especially for the pub. Lunch food was excellent and very reasonably priced.
Myself and my friend came here Saturday 18th March. Pub has many original feature, in a historical sense. Food we ordered 6 dishes for set price. Very tasty and we'll presented. Not too busy despite being Saturday. I did call and make a reservation. Was impressed and would recommend.
We went for a drink or two before dinner last weekend after walking all around Manchester, our feet were killing us. We were on the roof terrace, it was lovely. Would definitely return and try the food thanks!
