The wall itself is very interesting but to truly experience and understand it I would highly recommend getting a tour by a local. We did a tour with a local cab company and it was fascinating. We learned so much about the history of Belfast and Northern Ireland, especially about the political and religious divides that have driven such conflict in this area.
What an amazing tour! I had no idea all the walls and gates existed and that communities were still segregated. It was a great tour and I’m so glad we took the time to learn about the Peace Wall.
No words.. this place offers so much that so many people from other countries don't know myself included. I was really delighted on taking the taxi tour. Regardless of from which side of the wall the taxi driver is . They do feel and offer a well balance guide of the city. I was so impressed. Looking forward to the day no human will have power and rule this beautiful world.
Given what it signifies and why it exists, it seems somewhat crass to rate the Peace Wall as five star and to say we 'loved it'. But it is an absolute must do when you are in Belfast. We went as part of a black cab tour – also a must do – and could not get over the scale of it and some of the horror stories associated. I will only speak for myself but I was almost entirely naïve to its significance and history.
Toured the peace wall of Belfast. It was interesting and full of history. But it was very sad that they used what happen to make money from that instead of removing the wall and loving each other like Jesus would want.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedYes
Spend the day out here and see both sides of town. It is almost as if you are visiting a living graveyard as you experience this city. Research some of this before coming. Bring a Sharpie. Do eat and drink in town. Support this entire community. What a travesty they have lived through!
Very interesting saw it on visit to Belfast, around the Clonard Monastery. Saw old Bombay Street area. I remember that on fire. Whe I was a teenager. Division stll there. It will take time...Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNot sure
Humbled by the size of it. Then the thought of it. The gates still get closed at 19.30 at night. Not a lot of peace around it in history. Great place to visit and think. A tour is a must to hear first hand about the troubles.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
If you know something about the history about Irish unionists and separatists, or catholics and protestants then the Peace wall is impressive to see and stand there at the place where there where heavy fights for decadesVisited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Nice place to visit. You can write whatever you like on the wall if you find the space.
