Mentioned a couple of dishes but had a number of others, each one was perfect great wine selection, so wonderfully atmospheric and enchanting as were all of the team who looked after us. Couldn't fault it, highly recommended and we'll definitely be back. Thank you... a perfect, relaxed evening and exceptional menu. Food: 5/5
My favourite french place in north london! The food here is absolutely delicious and the I love the decor and the atmosphere. It’s suitable for a little date brunch or for some wine. The vegtables were nicely roasted, light and fresh. Whilst the coq au vin was the start of the show. The meat was extremely tender and sauce was deep and rich.
Really gorgeous French restaurant in Kentish. The atmosphere feels relaxed chic and tables are spaced nicely. Service attentive and friendly. Drinks Wine selection is good, cocktails very good we had aperol spritz & the sour epicé, a Mezcal sour, which I thoroughly recommended. Food Between four we shared the deep fried dauphinois divine, baked st. Michelin, and then shared the sides with our mains of green beans in garlic, braised red cabbage & two frites portions one with aoli, one with garlic butter. All the mains were divine, the duck was cooked to perfection and the mushroom ragout was incredibly flavoured. The steak was also excellent and served to our liking. While portions are on the smaller side - and it would be nice that the meals came with a sauce as quite dry otherwise - they do not skimp on the desserts. You'll be hard pressed to find as comforting a rhubarb crumble as you will here, & the creme brulée had a satisfying snap & excellent flavour. For a filling and delicious taste of France, you really can't go wrong here.
Fantastic French cafe with great flavours and a great cocktail menu and mixologist. Tastes and textures were on point and served perfectly. Size of portions were just about right for the price charged. The restaurant is also dog friendly!Food: 4/5
Excellent experience. The bar with bunk seating is nice and cozy but you need to book early to secure a seat in the candle-lit main room. Some outside seating when it's warm. Simple choice menu, some daily specials. Three of us chose seperate starters and mains but shared for the experience. Recommend deep fried dauphinois, or the burratina. The salmon tartar at the next table looked delicious. The mains were delcious; my wide loved the duck confit, my swordfish steak had a delicious sauce, and my daughter's onglet was perfect. Fries on the side were 10/10, but the dauphinois were better than excellent. We were full after two courses but the chocolate mousse looked out of this world and I'd go back just to try it. House wine starts at £28, and a good selection of cocktails. Nice, friendly people, cozy warm atmosphere, romantic. We loved it and will return.
Absolutely lovely evening - delicious food, great service and I love the interior of the former butcher shop. Have had minor issues in the past with glare from the sun golden problem and noise in the main bar area but the butcher shop area was great. Had to spend a little time tidying up one of the loos - but that speaks more about the clientele than the restaurant… Vegetarian options: My wife found the vegetarian options a little limited.
Outstanding restaurant. The mushroom pâté and duck confit are exceptional. Ambience is very premium. Tightly packed but tastefully done. Service was attentive, and very helpful in suggesting good pairings. I will keep going back here - my favourite restaurant near me.Food: 5/5
What an incredible meal. If I had eaten this in the restaurant I would be impressed but to have this quality of food at home is something special. The steak tartare was fantastic but the star of the show was the duck confit. The meat fell off the bone and the flavour was wonderful. I can’t wait to go to the restaurant when we are allowed.
Food and wine was a good quality. Was considering 3.5 star though. Beef tartare was well flavoured and duck confit was well cooked with the meat falling off the bone. Forgot to take a picture of the cheese board. Given the chance we may have had a cocktail or dessert to polish off the meal, but ended up elsewhere to do so. Service staff were welcoming and friendly though, we did get bit rushed as it turned out it was a 2hr booking so they needed the table back. They did mention at the start but conversations flowed and being a slow savouring eater, timing ended up being very tight. They were flustered but weren’t too rude about it.
Short walk from Kentish town tub station. Some seating in the street. Another reviewer mentioned the dull lighting was romantic. For mine it was hard to read the menu because it was so dark. Had to use my mobile phone light. Had a couple of excellent cocktails and entree of cheese and steak tartare - Both delicious. Mains of duck slightly dry, rainbow trout excellentand a glass of white wine. £105 for 2. For the price the service could have been more attentive.
