If I were to offer a single piece of advice to anyone planning to dine at Oslo Court, it would be to arrive with a hearty appetite. From the moment you enter the building, you feel welcomed in the warm atmosphere; friendly staff taking your coats, and directing you to your table which has a plethora of crudites, garlic dip and slices of melba toast to start up your appetite. The staff at Oslo court make your dining experience one to never forget. They are attentive to all of your needs and bring requested items such as a new napkin straight away. The specials are recited, and recommendations are given. You are made to feel like royalty, with the side dishes being personally placed on your side plate- and plentiful portions must I add. When it comes to clearing up, the process is extremely slick; within 2 minutes, all the plates are whisked away and a member of staff uses a crumb cleaner device to ensure your table is as fresh as it was when you arrived. Onto the main moment- the food. To start, I had the French Onion soup which was so rich with flavour I couldn’t believe it. A mini crouton and cheese was offered to elevate the dish even further. For the main course, I had spaghetti with tomato sauce- simple but delectable. However, my main focus was on the side dishes: triple cooked chips, sauteed potatoes, and best of all, cauliflower cheese. I can safely say that it was the best cauliflower cheese I have had to date; perfectly cheesy, large pieces of cauliflower and fine breadcrumbs to top it off. Other members of my party indulged in creamy spinach and peas which went down quickly. My favourite moment of the evening was dessert- and I was so looking forward to it. I can safely say that my treat of choice exceeded my expectations: raspberry tart, filled with chantilly cream, covered with sweet raspberries encased in a biscuit base. I am a lover of cream desserts, and the fact that this tart was 70% cream made me so happy. The scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side was very refreshing and was one of the nicest vanilla ice creams I have had. The dessert waiter Neil made our experience fun and enjoyable with his funny comments and recommendations! To end the meal off- even though we were extremely full at this point- multiple plates of individually wrapped praline chocolates and nougat, with cups of hot drinks were provided, which really added that extra special touch that you don’t receive at other restaurants. As we were attending Oslo Court for a birthday, a jolly happy birthday was sung, accompanied by an enormous cream cake which we took home and will be enjoyed at a later date- we are still full up from our meal! The uniqueness of Oslo Court, being its retro 70’s decor or its excellent food and service, makes it a ‘must go to’ restaurant for anyone who likes to indulge in splendid culinary experiences. I do hope to be back soon!
Oslo court is our go to restaurant for celebrations, anniversaries and birthday days, and it seems to be everyone else's too, as there's always at least 4 times the waiters all sing happy birthday. The staff are simply fabulous, nothing is too much trouble. The food is outstanding. Yes it is very pink and yes it's like a trip to a bygone era, but you'll love it! everyone does. The meal is a fixed price menu with starters such as Coquille St Jacques and lobster cocktail to be followed by steak Diane or Dover sole. And as always they save the best to last. Neil the dessert waiter is the most camp, the most nutty and the most wonderful person and he always saves his last creme brulé for you. We cannot recommend this place highly enough.
I've been going to this restaurant for over 25 years and the standard has been consistently excellent. I love the traditional layout and the warm ambience. The same family has owned the restaurant, and I've grown up with them. My only recommendation is to turn up hungry - the 3 course meal with unlimited sides will leave you very full. Every dish is a delight, but just like a child I wait to hear the specials like I'm anticipating Christmas! My favourite is always the dessert where Neil is on hand to bring out the surprises. Fabulous restaurant for everyone of all ages - I should know I've been going since I was a teenager and this week I took my children with me!
On the outside it looks like you are visiting someone in their flat but a section of the ground floor is Oslo Court Restaurant. I had a birthday celebration here as dis many people that night and I have to say the service and food was fabulous. Full 3 course meal plus bread and vegetables dip entrees all for a fixrd price of £55 per head plus a well deserved 12.5% service charge and drinks was good value given the quality of the food and atmosphere.
An old school restaurant for a special occasion. Delicious food, amazing attentive service. A decor that hasn't changed probably since 1975. It was expensive but packed with people. They must be doing a lot right!Food: 5/5
Last week I went to the Oslo Court for my 60th birthday. I first went there with my parents some 46 years ago and many times since then. As ever, it is a delight to visit. The ambience, the food, the staff are excellent. I had such a lovely evening with family, I even had a cake from the staff, which was wonderful. Thank you to all and look forward to visiting again, soon.
Outstanding restaurant, very old school 1970's feel with the decor and menu but fabulous in all areas. Service was only a little slow at one point but that was because they had reached full occupancy for lunch, and we all arrived around the same time. Food was delicious, great selection particularly fish options. Wine was well paired. One of the owners brought me a second dessert as way of apology because my first choice wasn't available. He had a great humour and really made us feel welcome. Pricey but well worth it overall. We will come back
Nothing like my usual restaurant of choice. However, I wouldn't have missed this as the experience of the food, service and atmosphere were perfect for the occasion of a family birthday celebration. I can't remember when globe artichokes were on a menu, and they were served with hollandaise and of course the obligatory finger bowl! The sole meuniere was perfect and the selection of accompanying vegetables was only let down by slightly undercooked potatoes. I could have chosen all of the desserts but went for the apple strudel with ice cream. The birthday celebrant got a special plate of profiteroles and a candle to blow out. Perfect lunch. Kid-friendliness: The waiting staff paid as much attention to the 4yr old as to the adults, asking him what he wanted and making him feel inclusive. He ate everything but said the strawberry ice-cream was the best!
