At Grizedale Forest, 27 miles away, there is cycling, and at Coniston Water, 10 miles, sailing and watersports. The sandy beach at Haverigg is within 9 miles, and other local attractions include Windermere, Ravenglass and Eskdale railway, and Muncaster Castle.
