Not sure why there are so many negative reviews. They are extremely busy, it’s not their fault people can’t get an appointment on the day. The staff I have spoken to are all extremely friendly and helpful.
I feel bad for writing this review but honestly if you are trying to get blood tests done do not go to this surgery. I needed to get my bloods tested for hormone treatment and the the nurses who tested my blood made sure to note down all the needed information. I literally watched them as they copied out the list of things that needed to be tested for Also the nurses did the blood tests wonderfully they were lovely and really easy to talk too and were understanding about me being nervous about needles. I even made a joke to one of them at my most recent blood test saying I was only there having another one because they last one they messed up and she agreed that sometimes things like that happen. I ended up having 3 blood tests because for some reason Alasdair Jessup the doctor who is in charge of testing the blood, kept missing out all of the things I needed to be tested for and just kept testing the same few things over and over again. When I brought this up to the staff over the phone I was told that I would need to do an online E- Consult, I then did so and received a very rude email saying that there was nothing wrong with my results or blood levels in any way and that they were refusing to test my blood again and that If I was worried about polycystic ovaries or PCOS for short they would arrange for me to get a ultrasound, also they had tested for everything I had asked for; that's just a lie. Just to note I had previously handed in a copy I had made to the receptionist for the nurse who was taking my bloods and she kept it so it should be with my medical history somewhere, showing that what they tested me for doesn't match the list that I requested. I had to then get in contact with my Gender care doctor who had to wright a letter to the GP surgery saying that they needed to test my bloods as there was something wrong with my results. Basically, my private doctor said that my bloods were off and the doctors at Parc Canol refused to admit there was something wrong, but decided to give me another blood test. Which they then, once again, missed out on testing me for the majority of the things on the list. Honestly I don't know if its plain transphobia or just being completely incompetent. Also just to note when I tried to change my name and gender with the receptionist they did it straight away, BUT they somehow didn't transfer ANY of my medical history so it meant that I couldn't have any of my medication for what I think was half a month. I have also had a horrible 'Phone' appointment with one of the doctors but I couldn't name him as I didn't catch his name. It was just after I had had a private consultation with Gender Care in London, they had sent the whole consultation report to Parc Canol so they could update the system, and the doctor on the phone said that I had never expressed any issues with my gender with the GP and wanted to know why I had gone private; that was non of his business but I informed him of the NHS and how long it would take so I decided to go private. He didn't like the answer clearly because he made a snide comment about how they need to update my profile " So when you come into the surgery in a few years time with ovarian pains we know its cancer" and he also said that Body Dysphoria and Body Dysmorphia is the same thing, which I tried to explain to him wasn't the case but I am not a doctor so obviously he wasn't going to listen. He then told me he would be updating my account with them and putting down that I have 'Body dysmorphia' because in his words " Dysmorphia and Dysphoria are the same thing anyway". I feel that the majority of the staff here are hard working and good people but I just don't understand how they can constantly mess up my blood tests, mess up changing my name on the system and then refuse me help until I get another surgery/doctor involved. In the end I have decided to change GPs. I can't keep having blood tests and not having the results that I asked to be tested for.
Impossible to get an appointment unless you take time off work and hope they are not full after you have redialled 94 times! They often are. Earliest regular appointment is one month away! I know the NHS is struggling but this is unacceptable. If you ever do get seen the doctors are ok, but there must be a better system for booking appointments.!
After seeing so many negative reviews I feel I have to share my thoughts! The E consult function is extremely useful and efficient , and I have found the reception staff very friendly and helpful when I have spoken to them . A much better service and response than I had at my previous Drs !!
The most ridiculous of appointment systems that’s if you can get through. The practice manager is both overbearing and rude. Constantly blames the NHS for the current situation and shortage of GP’s. The practice is not prepared to pay for a locum to bridge the gap as they charge up £1100 per day. Well someone must be paying it for them to be able to ask for this figure perhaps they have shot themselves in the foot.
Called Monday, no appointments available, ring tomorrow 8am....Tuesday ... 320 redails later finally get through to be told no appointments available - again !! Had to book time off work on the off chance I could get in ?? What is wrong with this GP surgery ?!?!
Had a letter to make an appointment this morning only for the receptionist to tell me i dont need one !!! I'm sure she knows better than the doctor . Really !!!!!!
Courteous and helpful when I went in and were able to get me an appointment when I needed it. No grumbles here
Super helpful receptionists, secretary and Doctor. Extremely efficient. Thank you all
All I want to do is get a routine appointment with a doctor. How can that be so difficult!!
