Safety and cleanliness were my top priorities, and Palmer’s Lodge got the safety part spot on! I definitely felt safe. It was mostly clean but, not gonna lie, pretty sure I was bitten by bed bugs or something else. Also, the bathroom in the women only en-suite needed a serious deep cleaning. One thing I was really looking forward to when booking was the helpful people who work there that could offer advice or recommendations, that did not happen. I don’t think the people working there had any knowledge of anything related to transportation, shopping, dinner places or really anything else. I felt as if I was being annoying just for asking. I see they are showing as closed now, not sure what that’s about but I gave them 4 stars because I did feel safe, and it’s a hostel not a hotel.
It was a lovely experience, the staff was really helpful, washroom were clean and most importantly I got a chance to different people. I had booked 12 beds women domitery but didn't find it messy or noisy .It was super comfortable for me.Rooms: 5/5
Amazing building. Great location. Very homey feeling. Rooms are very spacious. The only bad things is the banging doors. They should fix that. In a 28 people dorm having a door that keeps banging every time is open is such an issue when it comes to sleeping at night. The rest was pretty good. Very clean. Rooms: Very spacious Walkability: Great location Food & drinks: Plenty of shops around the area
We got there early so we paid to store our luggage in lockers downstairs until it was time to check in. Check in was easy. We opted for a private room. The shared bathrooms/showers were fine not great and we needed to bring our own soaps and shampoos. The building is really cool, the room was clean, and really all I needed was somewhere to sleep so having a clean bed and quiet room was great.
Would have been a lovely stay, had the hostel not canceled my reservation. Apparently there was an issue with my card during the reservation process, which have not encountered before, neither in Britain nor any other country. I was able to stay there for one night at a hefty price increase and was told to talk to a manager the next morning, who then informed me the hostel would close down for the week. Therefore I had to switch to another hostel. As I was given two contradicting statements regarding my reservation card not working vs hostel closing down for the week I would not recommend booking this hostel. It is beautiful if you are able to stay, but not worth the stress I experienced.
Easy check in process and the staff is available at the front desk 24/7. They also helped us promptly in assisting with directions on how to reach the place from Heathrow airport. Seen all age groups at this place and it felt quite safe & at a convenient distance from the Swiss cottage tube station. Loved all you can eat breakfast option and the sandwich was amazing. Girls washroom wasn't so tidy but the other washrooms on different floors were very clean and well maintained. Bunk beds were decent and had a small bed light and charging cable nearby. I wish the lights in the rooms were more brighter but otherwise the entire stay was a thumbs up and recommend to all.
The mixed domatry was good, but than they moved me to the only females. No privacy because curtains only half way, and super noisy It was the worse experience in a hostel ever, hardly any sleep. But the breakfast was fabulous. And location, depending of what you want, if you want town, its too fare out.
This place is very close by to the metro and Paddington train station. It’s really easy to get to most places from here. What I love about this place are the communal areas. There’s loads of room so that you’re not just chained to your bunk bed. My only complaint would be the amount of dust on the beds, it just makes you feel really dirty when it’s a hot summer night and you’re lying in bed with dust around you. Other than that no complaints. Lovely staff, you feel safe here. Would definitely come back
A well-maintained hostel in a repurposed mansion with a bar in the basement. There is an elevator in the building. Staffed 24-7 and personnel were great. Breakfast offerings purchased separately were simple but solid. The kitchen is very small for the size of the hostel so don't expect to cook apart from using the refrigerator and microwave. I stayed in a female-only room with six bunkbeds. The bunkbeds were comfortable and solidly built no wobbly and squeaky beds with privacy curtains. No air conditioning in the building, which I didn't expect, so expect a stuffy room especially during a heat wave. Lockable chests available in the rooms as well lockers available in the entry. There are only two washers and dryers, which is not enough for the number of people it serves. Bathrooms were fine and there were female-only rooms and bathrooms available. Locks, towels, and other amenities are available for purchase. I didn't see any families with children. Hostel location is a short walk to the underground with easy access to the all areas of London. Overall this is a solid choice for a hostel and I really enjoyed staying in the lovely building.
Overall great hostel. I stayed in a female dorm room without an ensuite. So going to the bathroom was awkward because it was unisex and often busy and the female one was up 4 flights of stairs. I would stay here again but I would choose an ensuiteRooms: 4/5
