We were passing through and rang ahead to arrange food, the staff were very friendly and the food was excellent, we also ended up having a sweet which we don't normally do but when it's Bakewell Tart you just have to! There is good selection of ales and some that are brewed locally, parking is ample and views of the surrounding area is stunning
Excellent beer in this superb country pub. The food looked good, and competitively priced, guess that's why they're busy.Service: 4/5
Amazing village pub and restaurant, small and cosy, with an excellent menu and daily specials. Log burner blaring away, dogs were welcome, staff very friendly and you felt part of the family. The beer and wine selection was tremendous, and the food was just awesome, don't pass by this one without going in, you will not be disappointed , oh and make sure you leave room for the sticky toffee pudding
A very friendly, welcoming pub with great food. Large portions of home made deliciousness. I'm very pleased we found this place on our way around the Peak District and will be sure to visit again
Lovely traditional country pub with spectacular views. Dog friendly, good selection of beers and tasty food. Very popular with hikers. Very nice beer garden with little huts to sit in as well as benches.Location: 5/5
Called in here on the way home from Chatsworth house. Just wanted a quick drink and a bowl of chips. The chips were delicious and looking around at other people's meals they looked delicious too. Staff very friendly and we intend to return again but this time have a proper meal. Would definitely recommend going
Visited last summer while staying locally, and decided to book in for lunch while in the area again over Easter. Had the steak and Stilton pie, and it was delicious. Generously filled, generously proportioned, and served with possibly the best chips I've eaten in my almost 5 decades. Although it does come in it's own dish, there is pastry all the way around, unlike a lot of places these days. A dish of meat wearing a pastry hat is not a pie! I can't comment on the ales as I don't drink it, but the local lager is well worth a try. Prices are reasonable, and the staff are all friendly, welcoming, and polite. The beer garden is a great place to relax in the sunshine, but if the weather is against you, the pub itself is a cosy place to be.
Outstanding village pub with character.. Ever changing local ales served to perfection. Great food with a menu that suits most. Brilliant friendly staff. You will not be disappointed.
Fantastic friendly pub. Good size portions and really tasty food. So good we went back the next evening! Between the three of us we had lasagne, burgers and fish and chips - there was nothing left on the plates.
A great pub to go to post a walk/hike around Chrome Hill/Dragons Back and Parkhouse Hill, and is dog friendly Really friendly staff shout out to the lady serving yesterday afternoon, dark hair and glasses! great food and a good selection of draft products, including a High Peak brewed lager. Will definitely be back next time I’m in the area.
