Staying at the camp site opposite, we tried the local pub for dinner. And we could not have been more impressed. It is a traditional pub with lovely warm atmosphere inside. Our server, Sophie, was extremely friendly and helpful, making our evening very enjoyable. Lovely main meals, well cooked, reasonably priced and good portions. Sorry no photos! And very tasty desserts. See the cheesecake & brownie! All in all, a 5* experience. Very well recommended.
I didn't stay over at this pub, I only went with my partner to check out their breakfast menu as they state they have a deal for campers staying at the campsite opposite. Which is were we stayed. First I most mention that this Inn/Pub is in a beautiful building in a very picturesque setting with some nice outdoor seating in the summer. However, when we first entered the pub there was no staff to be seen anywhere. Eventually someone came around and asked if they could help us, but wasn't too polite. Due to being vegan we asked if they had any options for us, which they answered no because their sausage wasn't vegan. We thought maybe we could leave the sausage out but the person wasn't clearly not interested in serving us so we left and made our own breakfast. This was the summer of 2021 but we did go back this summer and thought maybe things had changed and we went in the evening. We only ordered a drink because the vegan options didn't appeal to us and the staff were a little more polite. I don't think I'll go back again, it's a shame as it's in such a nice place. Maybe its better for non-vegans.
One of the best roasts we have ever had!!!! Me and partner are visiting the area for a couple days we have driven from london and we came across this pub on our drive and I can honestly say the food and the service was excellent!!Josh welcomed us in and looked after us and he is an amazing person! So helpful with the menu and actually truly cares for anyone walking into the pub! He deserves a raise!! Beautiful Sunday roast! Everything was tasty and cooked to perfection- For the price and service its excellent! Wish more pubs were like this in London! So thank you! 100% recommend :
Get country pub with rooms. Great pub with a friendly welcome, good, well kept ,real ales and tasty food menu. Rooms were a decent size and beds super comfortable. Food was tasty with a good choice sufficient to tempt everyone in our large partying. Will definitely be back.
Perfect walkers/cycling/country pub. I walked up from a local campsite. Traditional home cooked foodI had gammon, which came with all the trimmings, no real need for sides. Ales we’re in excellent condition, with a good selection of drinks. And the staff were super friendly and helpful.
Visited the pub last Monday for evening food. Sat in the bar. Such a good atmosphere and so cosy! Vegan burger was great. So nice to see one that is homemade and not just a bought frozen one! Definitely would recommend.
I had a very good few nights stay over New Year in the Innkeeper's Cottage adjacent to the hotel and thoroughly enjoyed it. The final day breakfast was prepared by the duty manager Jenny and was absolutely top notch. The cottage itself is right next to the pub and very well equipped with ulrafast wifi and lots of hot water. There is ample parking on site. The pub has Wainwrights beer and the evening meals were pretty good. The steak I had was excellent. The cottage is also dog friendly.
We booked a table for two on a Saturday night. My missus ordered the fish chips and mushy peas. When the meal arrived it looked like it had seen better days and had been standing for quite a while.I had home made lamb and mint pie served on a bed of mash with red cabbage. This turned out very disappointing too.The pie looked more like a pukka pie then home made.My missus meal went back so it did ruin the night as I ate my meal, then had to wait for her order. Drink prices were way over the top in my opinion £4.90 for a pint of Guinness. Just glad we never had a starter and desert as the bill come to £43 just for two main meals and 3 drinks.Won’t be going there again in a hurry
Just called in for a drink and the pub is lovely. Warm and welcoming. We didn't eat but the food smelt and looked delicious. We are going to go back to eat.Service: 5/5
Waking nearby & hoped to it was open. Great fire and welcome. The lite bites menu food was huge & super! Will be back.Service: 5/5
