Super little hidden gem of a pub. Justin the landlord is very welcoming and there is an exceptional menu of good home cooked food. Best steak and kidney pie I have had in ages. It’s not big so it is wise to book ahead.
I recently went for lunch with three friends. We had a lovely time. The pub is very welcoming and clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is great and they had no problem with catering for gluten free. I would not hesitate to recommend.Service: 5/5
This is a one of our favourite places in the Peak District, its very welcoming and the real ales are always on top form. The choice of food on the menu is great, and we always find something yummy to eat. Parking can be a bit tight but it's OK if you're careful. I recommend this place but please book if you want a table and a great night out
Such an adorable pub with indoor and outdoor seating. Dogs are welcome. We had the steak and kidney pie which was very hearty. The brie, bacon and cranberry on baguette was also very good. Update - Sunday Roast is great and pub quiz night is a lot of fun.
Came here for dinner one night as were staying in a cottage down the road. Husband rang up and they reserved us a table. Arrived and Justin explained everything and we ordered our drinks. We then ordered the food. It came out piping hit and tasted delicious!! I has the lasagne and my husband had a burger which was on the specials board. We were both so full we couldn't manage a pudding, gutted as they all sounded amazing. All the team were really friendly and helpful. Thank you for making us feel welcome.
Went for lunch on New Years day pre booking essential. The food is wholesome and the portions are large. Loads of specials we had the beef casserole with stilton dumplings, it was awesome. Good selection of beers, friendly attentive staff, will revisit.Service: 5/5
Visited for lunch on new years, booked in advance to secure a table. Superb food, large servings and a great selection of specials, the beef casserole with stilton dumplings was fab'. Good range of beers, great staff.Service: 5/5
Less than a warm welcome and don’t expect to eat inside if you have a dog with you! This was first week in January and pub was half empty! Dining area where dogs not permitted mostly empty whilst lots of people having meals in bar area without dogs where dogs where allowed! So many other dog friendly pubs in the area to be preferred!
I last stayed at The Church Inn more than 10 years ago and Justin was running it then. It was very comfortable and the food and beer was superb. I used to fish for the trout in the nearby River Wye with my great friend, Anthony, who recently passed away. Those were lovely days, made perfect by Justin at The Church Inn. Brian. Rooms: Very clean and comfortable.
Fantastic food and lovely scenery. I had the giant Yorkshire pudding with mash and sausages. Delicious sausages and the gravy was rich and full of flavour!Service: 5/5
