Had a fantastic birthday meal with friends last night. Been a while since I last came here 2 years and the food is much better; great portions, nice and hot, loved the coleslaw. Staff were welcoming and friendly. I was treated to a free bottle of wine from the manager for my birthday. 10/10 would come here again. Thank you for a fabulous meal.
Been here twice over a periods of a month and the majority of the menu items were out of stock. What food we had was good and very nice. The stafff were very attentive when we could find them. Will try them once more in a month or so as they are the only local pub which do large steaks if in stock. Went again and no large steaks as advertised on the menu. Had a t-bone steak which had not been cooked correctly so was taken back to the kitchen. Lost a chunk of the steak on return. Same steak just again poorly cooked could taste like a butain or paraffin flavour. Worst steak I have ever tried. But after a very long day ate what was edible. Would avoid
Visited today. Warm welcome from Kim, ordered off the lunch menu. Starters of prawn cocktail and breaded mushrooms. Very well Presented and delicious. We both had the steak sandwich. Which was awesome. Beautiful cooked meat and very tasty. All in all very surprised to get such a lovely meal and such great value. Will definitely be visiting again.
Booked the restaurant a few weeks ago being as it was a Sunday thought it best as it might be busy. However, on arrival we were told there was an hour wait as they had had a lot of walk ins. Fair enough, you grab what you can in these uncertain times. Didn't have to wait as long as we were told but when our meal arrived my plate was cold, gravy was very thick and gluey. Not impressed. Why was there a stuffing ball sat in the middle of a Yorkshire pudding when I was eating beef. Don't get that one. Mashed potato was from a packet, vegetables we're soggy. At £12.95 I was not impressed. Will seriously have to think twice about coming here again.
Love this place. Very child friendly. Great family environment. Especially love the tomahawk steak and the T-bone steak. Appetizers really good. All foods are well priced. Definitely recommend if you have young children.
A lovely Christmas Dinner with succulent turkey and very friendly attentive staff. We've been here for evening meals too and the food has always been very good and the staff very helpful. It's not expensive, plus the old building looks lovely from the outside and feels cosy on the inside. Dog and kid friendly.
Overall a Terrible experience. ordered food and waited an hour and half. When speaking to waiting staff. We were told food would take another 10-15 minutes. We decided to pay for our drinks and leave. I don’t understand how the place was empty with the exception of 2-3 other tables and we were there before them. And it takes that long. Can’t comment on the food as never got any. Ruined a family meal on a Friday night. I cannot express how disappointed I am in this place. It use to be such a nice pub.
Been here for lunch a couple of times and can't fault it. The service was good. The food was good. It is pretty quiet at this time of day which is a shame as we went to a pub for lunch last week The Ugly Duckling that charged the earth for the food and we had to wait over an hour for it!!! Support the Oxon! By the way, I'm not a local. I live about ten miles away.
The service wasn't great. The only one good waitress appeared to be bullied & looked down upon by the 2 others serving. We received negative attitudes from everyone but the ' singled out 'waitress. Even when we asked to add a tip, for the decent helpful but nervous waitress, the 1 waitress with the card machine eyerolled & snapped " ill have to go back to the til" ...... absolutely appalling! a complaint has been sent separately to this
Waited 50mins-1 hour for food without any explanation to why. When it did arrive we were still waiting on our starter. Dirty cutlery. Staff didn’t seem bothered. When I went to pay there was no apology about the wait. Been here multiple times in the past and always thought it was good but won’t be coming back here again after this experience.
