Story

One Great George Street is a four-domed grade II listed Edwardian building used as a conference and wedding venue just off Parliament Square in Westminster, London, England. The building is also the global headquarters of the Institution of Civil Engineers ; it was originally a venue for ICE members to relax, meet and have conferences, and became available for public events in 1989. It is near the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, and St James's Park.Building and historyFrom 1839 until 1913, ICE occupied numbers 24–26 Great George Street. In the mid-1880s the government proposed re-development of the area around Great George Street to provide more office space for government departments. This meant the demolition of ICE's first location and led ICE to move its headquarters across the road to numbers 1-7.One Great George Street was built for the ICE between 1910 and 1913 and was the result of an architectural competition won by James Miller, RSA (1860–1947). His winning design was priced at £77,126, with the other architects involved in the design competition including Brigg, Wolstenholme & Thornely, John Belcher, William Emerson, Charles Edward Barry and Thomas Collcutt. The contractor who built the building was Mowlem.

Absolutely stunning building and the first floor will give your guests the wow factor. Staff here go over and beyond to make sure everything goes smoothly and to time. Food is very tasty and toilets are very clean. Would be ideal for a wedding or conference.
Working with Letticia was a dream!!!! She and her team were so professional and courteous. They catered to every demand and request we had. The venue was so beautifully decorated, with all the vendors working well and efficiently to ensure that the wedding was epic!!! Despite the long hours, Leticia ensured that we were well accommodated. The bride and groom and their guests had so much fun. I definitely recommend this venue for your weddings, special events, and occasions.
My friends and I saw this Edwardian building outside whilst going on a bus tour on Friday the 19th July 2024. It's a magnificent building. We are the visitors from Dublin, Ireland
Beautiful building, lovely rooms and original character and amazing conference facilities, friendly and helpful staff.
A great privilege to attend organized functions at this private establishment belonging to the Institution of Civil Engineers. An opportunity to commenorate many engineering wonders constructed by the world's leading professional engineers.
It is a little scratchy to work with their event managers and supervisors, who like bossing around over and over all the time and sending staff home earlyearlier than their booked working timewithout proper communication. As I had been through with them, I would say this is impolite and rude. Apparently they have not realised the importance of team work and have remained this make -do attitude for long time, in such a historical and gorgeous building. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Gary, Thank you very much for your genuine reply. Thanks to my angycy, I have had the chance to work in a few of different 5 star hotels and restaurants in central London which I have tried to write down my reviews objectively for each of them. With my skill and experience, I can tell, at least, which one is friendly and polite from the attitude and language between their staffs and managers. Frankly I am not interested in how is your relationship going on with your clients you serve for who actually pay you. What I focus was the unfair treatment to the staffs like us in this public platform, who get paid from you. I am a professional graphic designer, artworker and retoucher, I don't think I need the help from you in this case. In the contrast, you are the one who really need to improve the relationship between your staffs and managers who obviously lack of the same enthusiasm and passion to staff, compared with to your clients. I feel sorry if you still have not figured it out in this beautiful Edwardian style building for these days. Kind regards, Minyan
