Visited for the first time yesterday, adequate parking space, lovely outdoor area which is dog friendly. Service was poor and somewhat slow. Visiting for the first time, it's not clear that you need to get a table yourself and go to the reception to place an order. This is the reason for a 4-star otherwise food was great, tasty and comes at an affordable price. I particularly enjoyed the home made Nachos, different from the usual as well as the beef chili and rich peppercorn sauce. Will be visiting again in the future.

Long wait for food that we were not informed of until after the third person in our party had ordered. Mix up resulting in the wrong food being given to the wrong person. Posh fish finger butty had three small pieces of fish on it and was not worth the money charged for. It. Wouldn't eat there again. The only good thing about the visit was the coffee.
It's been a while since we visited the Ancient Oak. We had tried the delivery option UberEATS a few weeks back and the burgers really impressed us so I opted to go there for my birthday dinner. Because of the football we decided to go in at about 3:30pm and a fair few tables were already reserved. There was still plenty of space so we didn't struggle to find a table for 4. We chose to have 2, 3 course fixed price meals and 2 menu meals. The nacho starter is great, really tasty with fresh made nachos, it didn't take long for them to disappear. The two fixed price meals fish n chips and the chargrilled chicken were very nice, good portion sizes too. The ultimate burger and steak ciabatta both hit the spot too. The puddings were delicious, my Dad did opt for his favourite sticky toffee pudding but it wasn't in stock so he went for the fudge cake and still polished it off. My mum had the waffles, this was massive! 2 good size waffles with fruit and ice cream, you could share this pudding if you were feeling generous! The before 5pm fixed price menu is a good deal as long as you like the mains, which before 5pm is limited to traditional English dinners sausage and mash, ham and eggs etc after 5pm the price changes by about £5 each and you get the options of steak/burgers and other slightly more expensive dishes. The atmosphere was friendly and warm, the staff are always attentive, even when it gets busy they will say goodbye which is nice.
I absolutely loved this place, and the people running it Sunday morning were angels and made my day !!!! Breakfast was as amazing as the service!!!! This place has everything spot on and omg the fire Thank you guys
Excellent service, beautiful clean and tidy pub, tables nicely spaced and clean, wonderful food, we had veggie options and they were lovely, staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming, will definitely go back again, my husband and I eat out all over Lancashire and this is definitely in our top 10 if not top 5 of places to eat........ A+++
Came for lunch today honestly say that the mixed grill was wonderfully cooked the steak was perfectly cooked which at most pubs is uncommon the chips were light and fluffy really enjoyed it will defo be back.
