Lovely location - directly off the canal. Arrived for. One night stay as a family of five. Booked an executive family room - great sized room, kids loved the spa bath. Room a little dated but no issues. Loved the biscuits left for us. Ate in the pub in the evening sat outside as it was glorious. Food was good. Ate in the restaurant for breakfast - not the best for kids as very few options - should have eggs/beans on toast as an option - maybe pancakes? We ordered extra on our breakfasts and then shared it out! Kids loved the Easter Fairground and said they had the best time ever at Guys. They want to return so all in all a successful visit!
Absolutely love the place. Room was beautiful and we enjoyed a lovely meal in the Italian restaurant. Food was amazing and staff very polite and helpful. Been a few times over the years . So brought our brother and sister in law for a birthday celebration.... only downside... breakfast a bit too expensive.... :
Had a lovely 4 night break with family there were four of us in a room it was spacious room was very clean beds comfortable we had tea & coffee facilities in room. In the bath room we has a lovely spa bath We ate in both Owd Nells & had food from Guys food was very good. We had lovely breakfast each morning would very much recommend if you were staying over. Staff were lovely very helpful & friendly. we would definitely love to come back.
Another superb dining experience at Guy's Thatched Hamlet. The food has always been worth the wait. A few moments to chat and socialise at the table between courses makes for a relaxed and enjoyable dining experience. The clearly handmade pizzas are plentifully topped. Members of my party had seafood pasta dishes cooked to perfection no rubbery calamari here Fresh coffee, home made cakes and a quality ice cream. This is what I call honest food, for an honest price and quite literally you pay for what you get. Guy's isn't the cheapest, but I do believe it offers good value for money. If you want cheap Italian food... Then I suggest you look elsewhere! 5-star review and no doubt I'll be back again in the future!
Becareful which room you book. Unbeknown to me we'd booked an open plan bathroom and bedroom. I like privacy while showering so it gave me the ick!! Not ever a shower curtain for the bath for slight privacy. Bizarre. Perfect for new loved up couples who have no body issues but that isn't me! Food and staff amazing, comfy bed. Short black curly hairs on the blanket though the one that sits as decorative purposes grim so it got put the the floor. Rooms are dated and tired too but cheap enough. Overall OK stay. Probably won't return to stay over though. We'll only use for a food stop.
Lovely place for a day out with or without kids. It has nice rooms if you want to stay over with jacuzzi baths. There's a pub with food or a mega Italian restaurant with wood fire pizzas.
I've heard amazing things about guys from the pub to the sleeping facilities. Unfortunately, I experienced neither. The room itself, for £90 per night, I would have expected more. The room and bathroom was relatively clean, a couple of pubey hairs found dotted about. A double bed you would assume would have a double mattress, not two single mattresses together - it wasn't very comfortable. I would expect a better heating system, the heater was very poor for the room size and the window was wide open when we arrived. Its an old building you would expect they are well adapted with the heating systems. The amenities were very dated, but there was a modern TV The spa bath was lovely but didn't sugar coat the fact the room was so cold. I couldn't comment on any other rooms but I wouldn't go for room 20. I ordered food at 9pm kitchen shut at 10 by 9.55 my food hadn't arrived. I got the platter for 3 By 10.15 I had a hot plated meal. Unfortunately while the plate was hot the food was cold. Chicken was stone cold, as was the ribs and all other meat items, none of them was eaten. It was clear it was all heated in the microwave. I ordered an hour before it shut so it should have been fresh and hot. Not the potential of food poisoning. The garlic bread was good, though. On the positive, the employees were lovely, and the checking in process was very easy. Shame as all I have heard are amazing things about guys. Definately not worth all in all £150+.
The place is great. Some of the outside areas need a bit of a paint but with Covid etc that's perfectly acceptable. Made to feel very welcome. The service in the Italian restaurant is second to none and the food is delicious Everywhere is very clean and the staff are wonderful. Hard working and delivering good old fashioned customer service at its best! I would highly recommend staying here.
Hotel room could do with a little TLC but was clean and bed was comfy. Tv was little outdated and there were no plug sockets spare! We had to unplug the kettle and take turns to charge 2 phones, an E-cig and laptop near the TV. I would recommend bringing your own extension with multiple plug sockets. The room next door to us had music on and was loud until around 00:00. We didn’t mind we just had turn the TV up a little so we could hear it. Nodding off and we get a knock at the door at 00:30 from a security guard waking us up and asking us to turn TV down. Seems our neighbours had quietened down before the security guard got to us and we got the blame for the noise! Also security seems to patrol a lot which isn’t a bad thing really but felt like I was on school trip being checked on. My partner was followed to his car when he went to get his charger and was questioned what room he was staying in. Food was lovely in restaurant. Ordered and food was table within 20 minutes. Staff were really friendly and helpful.
It was good value, we had the daily special in the restaurant, really enjoyed it, food was out the kitchen very quick, questioning that some products not cooked to order, staff were very nice. This is a great place to go, right next to a canel. You wouldn't be upset if you drove 45mins to get there.
