Friendly staff made for a pleasant pint at this classic pub. Will happily return.Service: 5/5
We ordered food and drinks for 2 people. £34.80 a Chicken Tikka Masala and Sausage and Mash. Obviously not cooked on premises, simply reheated food. The curry, £12.95, was so overcooked that I couldn't cut the chicken. The staff on duty had to phone the manager to authorise a refund. The drinks were nice enough and the sausage and mash quite nice. Music was piped in, so not a great deal of atmosphere. It was clean and tidy though. We'd not go back.
Best pub in Manchester. Awesome food, great price and a pint thrown in for good measure. 1000% recommended. Staff brilliant too, great atmosphereFood: 5/5
Really nice pub with a good selection of beers at reasonable prices. Can get a bit busy but has a very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Recommended.Food: 5/5
Steak n Ale pie Classic pub grub!! Nice ambience to chill.Food: 4/5
Very good Manchester pub about 10 minutes walk from Piccadilly Station. Six cask ales on handpump when I visited including a mild. Fairly quiet after the Spurs game at the Etihad. The pub was Manchester brewer Joseph Holt's first ever new-build house in the city. Built on the site of the Queens Arms beer house, it opened in 1993.
Nice friendly bar staff, busy place but quieter upstairs. He had curried prawns which were delicious as a snack with a Gin & Tonic and. Beer. Enjoyable experience Food: 5/5
This British pub is a fantastic and well-liked establishment that offers an extensive selection of beer and delectable cuisine. The staff is exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Even when the pub was at full capacity, we were warmly received as a group of ten, and the attentive staff promptly arranged a table for us. They provided us with exceptional service and served us with delicious pub food and drinks that were nothing short of outstanding. We had an outstanding experience and would strongly recommend this pub to anyone seeking a wonderful genuine British dining and drinking experience.
It's in a great location and has a great atmosphere! There is a bar on the ground floor and a smaller one up on the first floor. You can book the top room for events etc. Last time I visited. There was a dog. Nice.Food: 5/5
Rather nice traditional pub in downtown Manchester a short walk from Piccadilly Gardens, owned by Joseph Holt brewery. Unsurprisingly, they offer a nice selection of their cask ales - admittedly not quite the best in Britain - plus guest beers. The robust barmaid was friendly enough. It's not a huge place and can get very busy even outside of peak hours. Unfortunately my first choice, Joseph Holt "SIXEX", had gone bad, with a distinctly vinegary taste and smell. It can happen casks, once opened, are good for only three days, but it certainly shouldn't happen if the beer is from the brewery that owns the place! Also, while the barmaid agreed with my complaint and immediately offered a replacement, she didn't take the bad beer off the bar afterwards, waiting for a new customer to be disappointed. That shouldn't happen AT ALL.
