Excellent old pub on canal side. Fantastic range of craft beers. Good food with good range of wines. Food includes vegetarian options. We had a party of 17, so had to pre-book main course selections, but they handled this all well. This is the third or fourth time we have been here with a large family gathering. Excellent place for such occasions. Great for smaller groups or couples too.

Came here on recommendation from my brother. In my 49 years of walking this earth this was the best Sunday lunch I ever had( roast beef and pork). Perfect portion size and the beef could be confused for steak. Had a rhubarb and ginger gin to wash it down. Perfect location close to town and railway station. Staff very helpful and made to feel very welcome. Definitely coming again to try more of the menu

Always love visiting this real ale pub when staying in Chester. They have a nice range of ales to suit all tastes, dark ales and light ales. You can sample a few before you choose. 5 minute walk from the city centre towards train station, on the canal. They do take table reservations for evenings and you'll find a polite notice on such tables telling you when you need to leave the table. We visited Sat and Sunday lunchtimes, plenty of tables free. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Dog friendly pub, dog biscuits at the bar.
Will definitely pay another visit next time we're in Chester.

Really nice atmosphere, very friendly staff and plenty of ales to choose from. Location is right on the canal with road straight to Chester train station. We even played Scrabble! Haha. Quite a busy but enjoyable venue to enjoy a drink and maybe some food.
