The Slowboat, Oriental restaurant in Chester has established itself for fantastic spicy food from around South East Asia, including Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Singapore.

Story

As Malaysian Chinese, we have indulges ourselves with a large number of original and unique dishes created from our cross-cultural kitchen, borrowing between traditional Malays, Chinese and Indian.

With remarkable varieties of cooking style and the usage of fresh ingredients - just two of the fascinating elements involved in the creation of our dishes - we ensure the best of our cooking is presented for you to enjoy.

Been here a few times now and attended yesterday for the sisters birthday, once again fantastic time. The service was amazing always attending the table is we needed to order again or drinks etc, they even brought out the cake for my sister's birthday after keeping it behind the bar during the meal for us. The food, as usual was incredible. Was slightly gutted to no longer see Thai Curry on there and other alterations have been made since I came last, but everything was beautiful all the way through. Our favourite is definitely the salt and pepper chicken or ribs so I highly recommend these. And to be able to reorder as many times as you want, 6 items max for £17.50, is fantastic. Highly recommended and no wonder they are a Chester Staple of a restaurant. Vegetarian options: My nan who attended with us and had the all you can eat banquet, was provided with her own separate platter for her vegetarian options and she advised they were beautiful. Parking: Park in the Iceland car park, and upon leaving advise the person at the desk that you've parked downstairs, they will give you a ticket to scan that gives you money off. I was there from 530 to 730 and it was £1.50
It was our first visit for several years so was unsure what to expect. We needn't have been concerned as overall it was excellent. Service was very attentive, food was great value and tasted excellent. We ate off the All You Can Eat menu. 1st class. Parking: Right outside. Very convenient.
We'd originally booked a table for 8 people, but unfortunately had to cancel, so we decided on a take away. Good, varied menu. Ordered online. Timely delivery. Food was delicious and value for money.
Absolutely fantastic. I think the people.of Chester might forget what a great place this is. The food quality is outstanding. Amazing value for money and top end service. Just go!
Poor service, very slow. Food when it did come was only just warm. Seems a lot more focused on deliveroo meals than customers in the restaurant... loads of bags and delivery men right where we were eating. It was freezing in there too, we ate with our coats on. All in all a poor experience for Chinese New Year
Food was nice all things considered but a little on the expensive side for my liking. Parking you get 4 hours despite what the signage states this costs £1.50 with a voucher from the restaurant after your meal. Parking is right next to the venue. Inside it was very very busy and loud.
Always come here for my birthday weekend and as ever the meals were absolutely amazing. Super fresh and steaming hot to your table, by friendly welcoming staff. Highly recommended by all my family and friends.
Food was so nice and the portions were more than enough per person. The staff were incredibly attentive as well. Worth spending money.
You'll have great food and a great time the only down side is that the food is freshly which means 20 - 30min wait between dishes which isn't ideal when at an all you can eat Wheelchair accessibility: No access
We ordered the meal deal for 4 people but not all the food arrived and some of the main courses didn’t arrive including the chicken ball and beef satay. I hope staff check that all the order will get to the customer next time when they get a delivery.
