Oakside lodge is located a short drive from the city centre, but is on a busline that runs till about 10pm. On arrival I was given maps to the park and ride and a favourite gastro pub. The lodge stands alone from the family home and includes a lounge with several sofas, a TV, and a generous collection of books and games. An outdoor terrace has views across the countryside. The room was clean, comfortable and free of odour. A couple of minor maintenance jobs were waiting - bulb out in the shower, and another light poorly seated, but neither caused me an issue. I liked that there was conveniently located sockets for charging my phone, and an adjustable radiator. Free WiFi got about 2Mb and was good enough to check messages and research my visits. This will be shared with other guests. Full English breakfast was extremely well cooked and I was impressed by the alternative selections. I wasn't told that my room would be serviced daily, which I considered unnecessary, and resented the intrusion. Otherwise the service was excellent.
