Old Fire Station Canterbury

About

The Old fire station (TOFS) boasts two properties the arthouse and the cedar house where contemporary meets traditional. A unique destination.

Story

The Old fire station (TOFS) boasts three properties the arthouse, cedar house and our new addition, firemans cottage where contemporary meets tradional. One of the unique features is that you can rent the houses indivdually or rent all of the houses together for a larger family or social gathering sleeping up to 12 people or 16 people.
The arthouse is a Victorian building, towering up above its adjacent properties. During Victorian times this building was used as a fire station where horse drawn fire engines would house themselves in the barn through the archway. The arthouse has been designed in a quirky fun way. The first floor living area is spacious, light with good views out to the city. There’s a modern kitchen providing a good selection of tea, coffee and cereals for guests’ independent use. On the second floor there are two bedrooms. The king room is at the front with a comfortable bed and private bathroom down the hall. The double room is situated at the back with a comfortable bed and private bathroom located downstairs.

The back house is a cedar wood clad building in a modern Scandinavian design. This property is unique to Canterbury. It is tucked away off the main road behind the arthouse. The generous living area has a reception room with two sofas, flat screen T.V, with satellite digital channels, dvd player and music centre with I-pod docking station. There’s a dining area which can seat up to 10 people and a well equipped kitchen with extra seating for four guests. Upstairs there's a spacious open plan bedroom area with a large king size bed & en-suite bathroom, plus a seating area with a pull out sofa bed.

Adjacent to the cedar house is a self- contained garden room which has a king size bed & en-suite. This room can be rented independently or rented additionally to the cedar house therefore opened up into one house. There is a courtyard garden that wraps around the house to give it a very private feel.
Fireman's Cottage at The Old Fire Station is as charming 2 bedroom Cottage with Large reception and dining area, fully fitted kitchen, bathroom and private garden.

A Perfect Retreat! Our stay at the Old Fire Station was nothing short of perfect. From the moment we arrived until the moment we departed, every detail was meticulously thought out, making our hen do celebration an unforgettable experience. We rented the full venue for the weekend, accommodating 12 of us comfortably. The spaciousness of the venue allowed us to indulge in various activities without feeling cramped or restricted. Sebastian and Adelle, the owners, were exceptionally responsive and accommodating. They ensured that every aspect of our stay was tailored to our needs, making us feel truly valued as guests. Upon arrival, we were greeted with a lovely welcome hamper, a delightful gesture that set the tone for the rest of our stay. It was filled with some lovely treats that instantly made us feel at home. One of the highlights of our weekend was the yoga session in the main courtyard. The serene surroundings provided the perfect backdrop for our practice, allowing us to unwind. Despite being conveniently close to town, the Old Fire Station is nestled in a tranquil location, offering a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle. It struck the perfect balance between accessibility and seclusion, allowing us to enjoy the best of both worlds. The attention to detail didn't go unnoticed, with thoughtful touches like tea and coffee readily available throughout our stay. It's these little extras that truly elevate the experience and make a stay memorable. In conclusion, our weekend at the Old Fire Station exceeded all expectations. From the stunning surroundings to the attentive hospitality, every aspect of our stay was nothing short of exceptional. Thank you, Sebastian and Adelle, for providing us with a truly unforgettable experience.
The family rented all 3 properties for Christmas for 12 people and it worked out famously. Everything was clean, nicely decorated and homely. The decorated Christmas tree was a very nice touch too. Access into the wonderful city of Canterbury on foot was easy.
Had such an amazing stay for my sisters hen do! We rented all three cottages and each of them were truly gorgeous and spotless! Adelle and Sebastian were so generous and helpful, the small touches in each house were so lovely and they really made our trip amazing! Thank you!
Great place to stay in Canterbury for large groups. We were five families with young children and we booked all three properties for a weekend in May. The owners are lovely and very accommodating. The properties were clean and stylish and had everything we needed for our stay. We managed to fit all 5 cars inside and probably could have fit another one at a stretch so no need to park on the road. Nice outdoor courtyard, kids played up and down and we managed to sit out and eat a couple of times which was nice. Location is good too, walkable distance to the centre and 15 minute drive to Whitstable. Shops near by and we had a food shop delivered without any issues.
A group of 15 of us stayed at the Old Fire Station earlier this month. The 3 houses are set up perfectly for big groups, with enough privacy and space to chill out balanced with well laid-out socialising areas. The hosts were fab at answering all of our questions and sent amazing recommendations about the local area and things to do. We had a great experience and would really recommend to others looking to host a big group event!
Have just returned from a fabulous weekend at The Old Fire Station. Such a lovely place. Quick and informative replies from owners to any queries before hand and during our stay. We took over all three properties and all were just fabulous. Would definitely recommend.
The Old Fire Station Canterbury was an absolutely amazing accommodation to celebrate my 25th birthday last weekend. All 16 guests were so impressed and really enjoyed themselves! Everything was perfect — lots of space, fully equipped houses, super comfortable beds, clean, and a very private setting. There were some welcome baskets with wine, chips, chocolates in each house which were a really nice touch. Honestly we couldn’t have asked for anything else. Thank you to the owners, Sebastian and Adelle, for a weekend we will cherish forever!
A group of 18 friends came together for a great weekend in this amazing property. The hosts were fantastic to communicate with leading up to the stay and were easy to contact throughout. The property is clean, well equipped and had more than we needed to have a comfortable, enjoyable stay. It is such a unique property and you get so much for your money. We cannot thank Sebastian and Estelle for their hospitality and allowing people to use such an interesting, quirky, fun property. We would love to be back in the future. Thank you!
We had a brilliant time at the Old Fire Station for a hen weekend - the two apartments were perfect for our group of 12, with the Cedar House living room and courtyard making for great communal spaces, easily accommodating everyone together for dinner, drinks and chilling out. Everything we needed was provided, with beds made up and kitchen basics stocked, plus lovely touches like the welcome baskets! We booked direct via the website, and the communication from Adelle and Sebastian was really excellent - recommendations for the caterer and local taxi company were great, and self check-in and quick responses to emails made the stay super easy-going. We would certainly recommend it for a group stay - thank you so much for an amazing weekend!
We booked for a hen party and the 3 houses were amazing, clean, lots of communal space. Lovely touches, with baskets full of treats and Prosecco in each house. Quick responses from the owners and gave lots of help with things to book and do around Canterbury! Really close walking distance to the town and space for parking at the house. Would recommend to anyone with a large group!
