Oaks Hospital is one of Essex's leading private hospitals with an excellent reputation for delivering high quality private hospital treatments and services. Located on the outskirts of Colchester, the hospital opened on this site in 1994 and currently has 57 bedrooms including three twin-bedded rooms all with en-suite facilities to ensure complete privacy throughout your stay.

Staff are friendly and professional and respect individual patient needs at all times. Oaks Hospital has a tradition of working closely with Consultants and patients to ensure the best quality healthcare is consistently being delivered.

All Consultants undergo rigorous vetting procedures, ensuring only those who are qualified and experienced are granted practising privileges which are reviewed on a regular basis.

After suffering with fibroids since my early 20’s, I was advised at the age of 41 that the only logical treatment left to consider was a hysterectomy. Therefore, I decided to book a consultation with a consultant at the Oaks Hospital.nnI received a response to my request promptly, and was given the choice of 3 consultants with available appointments the following week. Having reviewed their profiles, I decided to proceed with Mr Hassan given his knowledge and experience with fibroids.nnI went for my first consultation, at which Mr Hassan asked about my medical history in relation to the fibroids and explained the process of the hysterectomy fully. Having not had an operation before, I instantly felt at ease and in safe hands given Mr Hassan’s experience and ability to perform the procedure in the best way for my needs.nnI was then booked in for surgery within a matter of weeks. From start to finish, the care I received was impeccable by Mr Hassan, his team including the anaesthetist Mr Ramali and the nursing team at the Oaks.nnMr Hassan performed my hysterectomy in under an hour, removing my enlarged uterus which contained several fibroids, weighing approximately 7lbs. The surgery was performed via a bikini line incision which I had been advised by the NHS was not available to me.nnDuring my 2 night stay at the Oaks, the nursing team tended to my every need and made me feel so comfortable, including the hotel services team who provided a large range of food choices and at high quality. Mr Hassan came to see me every day to check on my recovery and provided clear guidance on next steps, especially following me being discharged.nnI have since had my 6 week check up and Mr Hassan explained about the histology report, discussed my recovery and continued to provide me with excellent care.nnAfter years of struggles, I feel so lucky that I have been given a new lease of life all thanks to Mr Hassan’s professionalism and skill. I would not hesitate in recommending both the Oaks Hospital, and Mr Hassan to anyone who is experiencing similar issues and looking for treatment.
Patient Review – Hysterectomy due to endometriosis at Oaks HospitalnnI approached Oaks Hospital as the wait on the NHS had become unbearable. From my very first call to enquire, I felt listened to, understood, and guided towards Mr Wassim Hassan.nnFrom our initial consultation through to reviewing my NHS results and discussing the treatment options available, I felt completely at ease. Mr Hassan explained my case clearly and helped me understand each step of the proposed hysterectomy plan.nnWithin just two months, I underwent my surgery; which I’ve since learnt was quite a complicated! Throughout the entire process I felt exceptionally well cared for.nnA special thank you to all the wonderful staff at Oaks for their patience, kindness, and guidance during my stay. I cannot thank Mr Hassan enough, his expertise, professionalism, reassurance, and care made what could have been a daunting experience a truly positive one.nnIt has been an absolute pleasure being under the care of Mr Hassan and the Oaks team.
I have had two day surgery procedures this year and have had a great experience both times. After multiple cancellations at my local hospital and a ridiculous wait time I was very pleased when I was then referred on to Dr Khalid Alaib at Oaks Hospital. I received appointments and timely treatment , which was informative and compassionate and I would certainly choose this route again if possible, as it's made such a big difference to ongoing health conditions.
Wonderful hospital! I’ve visited a few times under the care of Miss Sasha Taylor and even had a small procedure performed, which I arrived extremely nervous for. Miss Taylor has been incredibly kind and caring, probably the best care I’ve ever received.The nurses are all lovely, and the reception team is friendly and attentive too. Highly recommend!
While the care received in person has been satisfactory, the overall scheduling experience has been extremely poor. I’ve attempted to arrange an MRI, which was been a challenge to schedule in the first place, only to have it cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice.nnBefore Patient Experience reaches out asking me to get in touch, I want to highlight that I’ve already raised a formal complaint which you looked into. One would expect that cases like mine would be flagged and monitored to ensure proper follow-up—but unfortunately, that hasn’t happened.nnNow I find myself chasing again for results. Despite assurances that someone would contact me, I’ve had to follow up repeatedly and have only just managed to secure a future appointment. This is far from the standard expected of a private healthcare experience.
