I rang Elmstead Day Unit trying to get help regarding what my husband should do about stopping his medication before a minor op, This is not even being done on their ward. The Sister I spoke to was very kind and helpful and gave me another number to call and went and told them I'd be calling. I rang the ward and a very nice lady spoke to another sister on the ward and called me back within 5 minutes with all the information I needed. This was all on a Friday evening when I couldn't get any help anywhere else. I am so grateful to the three kind nurses who went out of their way to help me. I'm just sorry I didn't get your names. So thank you very much, you saved me a lot of stress over the weekend.
Absolutely brilliant experience at Elmstead ward yesterday incredibly efficient preparation for surgery. All nurses and porters kind and professional . Surgical and anaesthetic team attentive and informative . Post op tea and toast better than a 5 star hotel . Thanks to all for their caring service . Julie Robinson

Amazing nurses and doctors. Didn’t get to talk to the surgeon but he did an amazing job at a difficult surgery . No complications. Staff are so lovely and accommodating and put you at ease. Much less scary than anticipated thank you so much x
I visited Elmstead Day unit yesterday for my tonsils to be removed. I cannot thank the staff enough, I had to go alone due to COVID but all of the staff were so lovely, even walking me to my partner's car at the end of the day and allowing me to eat lots of ice and ice lollies when I struggled with food post op. I felt safe the entire time, when I woke up my eyes were very blurry and I couldn't see which scared me. The nurse took the time to reassure me and stay with me. They were ontop of my pain control at all times. I couldn't be any more grateful to them for making the experience as smooth as possible.
Dr Farag and his team at the endoscopy unit were amazing. Very professional, they put me at ease and helped me through a tough test that I don't think I could have gone through without them. I cannot fault anything, from the professionalism to the complete care and compassion they had for me. Amazing people. Thank you x
Had a procedure done yesterday was very very nervous first time patient at this Hospital. for the Anaethetist Mick and the nurse who put me at ease spoke to me while I was being put to sleep. Also to all the staff on the ward much appreciated for all the care you gave me . Many thanks Dawn Nutt.
23/03 I was in ward C for the day and can only express my absolute satisfaction with the care I received from all of the wonderful staff throughout the day. How our hospital in Colchester can be reported as a terrible place to be a patient is beyond me. These wonderful nurses and doctors worked tirelessly for the 12hours or more I was in the ward and theatre with a smile and a wonderfully caring attitude despite some of the abusive comments about them from 1 particular patient and his son. Thank you Thank you Thank you to everyone who cared for me on Ward C. Mick Tucker Bed No 4.
Had a procedure under general anaesthetic on Tuesday I was very apprehensive but all the staff in the ward And recovery and the anethasists were brilliant and I have such appreciation for Doctor Gooding who carried out the procedure .Because of the covid virus I was worried about going in but the social distancing and hygiene was first class. Thank you .
My wife had her gallbladder removed yesterday staff really looked after her they where amazing
