I honestly think this might be my favourite Underground station I’ve visited so far based on looks. The central line platforms are pretty standard but they are kept very clean. It’s easy to navigate the station as there is only three serving lines. The circle and district platforms look absolutely spectacular however! A fantastic arch to stand under while I wait for my next train! Not too busy on the day I went either.
Inspired by Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant's movie " Notting Hill," I made an effort to visit this beautiful, cosmopolitan and famous place in the West London district Notting Hill is a vibrant and trendy area with casual cafes and restaurants, antique shops, and vintage fashion. Not forget to mention the weekend market. There are some upscale restaurants and high-end boutiques in the Westbourne Grove area. Notting hill has gained a reputation as an affluent and fashionable area, with attractive terrace houses and large Victorian townhouses. The area is so beautiful, with colorful shop houses, stunning window showcases, and shops. Definitely is the best place for picture spots. The best and easy way to get to here is take the London Underground train and stop at Notting Hill Gate.
I love this area! Notting Hill is a vibrant, trendy area, with casual cafes lining bohemian Portobello Road, famed for its busy market selling antiques and vintage fashion. High-end restaurants and upscale boutiques cluster around Westbourne Grove, while the Electric Cinema welcomes filmgoers with posh armchairs. Huge crowds celebrate the annual Notting Hill Carnival, whose parades and calypso music reflect the area’s Caribbean roots. Restaurants: Gold, Farm Girl Notting Hill, Granger and Co., Ottolenghi Notting Hill, Beach Blanket Babylon, many great more..
Beautiful place in London to visit. Many shops and restaurants around the place and the tube station. Portobello Market is a lovely and vintage place to do your shopping. Many parks and gardens add to the beauty od the place. The shops can be a bit pricey.
Love, love antiquing day. To me is like going to "back in time" art galleries. And Notting Hill, what's not to like. Surround yourself with people with the same purpose, finding a treasure that will make your day and smile. Go for it!
You can reach Portobello Road from this station.
Albert’s is the best pub in Notting Hill, Max is a legend and makes the experience 10/10. Recommend anyone to go here for a great night.
I recently had the opportunity to visit Notting Hill Gate tube station. I was very impressed with the station. It is clean, well-maintained and easy to navigate. The staff were friendly and helpful. I was also lucky enough to see Hugh Grant at the station. He was very nice and even invited me to a guinea pig shop with him. I had to decline, as I was busy, but it was a very nice offer. Overall, I had a very positive experience at Notting Hill Gate tube station. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting London
The District Line and Circle line part is above ground and in the open air, it has high walls and is a bit of a wind tunnel or sun trap, depends on the day. It is a very busy station at peak time and especially when using the underground to the Central Line. If there is an event it can be closed for safety but the stations either side are not too far apart. The 94 bus runs along side the Central Line from Shepherd's Bush to Oxford Circus 24hours so if Notting Hill station is shut it really isn't the end of the world. The station looks fine, but has few examples of features architecturally speaking.
The Circle/District station was built in the late XIX century and it's very pretty
