Appalling value for money. Stayed 21st April 2018 in top rated room for £475. Situated above bar and the outside drinks area, pounding music went on to past 2am. Impossible to sleep. Avoid hotel and especially room no.3 that is cynically rented out. We were offered £50 compensation and advised it was much better Sunday to Wednesday. Thanks. Hotel and room is tatty. No air con in room, light not working, windows didn’t close, rotten fruit. Absolute rip off.

Really lovely food, wonderful service, very friendly. We loved the atmosphere and the surroundings. A bit pricier menu than we would normally pay, but overall a great experience.

Great service, great menu. Food wonderful and excellent wine list. Only slight niggle for us was the rather loud music being played.

Great ambience, style, and decor. The food was delicious, and the vegetarian option was original, well presented, and a well thought dish. If I was to offer a suggestion for improvement, it would be for the service. I felt the staffing levels were stretched considering it was the biggest day of the literature festival. The prices are punchy (which does not offend me in itself). You have an expectation that you will be well looked after and attended to when you are paying £24+ per meal. We were left in the lounge area for almost 30minutes before being seated (despite booking in advance) and no one offered to take a drinks order for us in this time. First impressions are always lasting so it tainted our visit somewhat. However, we will most likely return as the overall experience was pleasing.

We have been going to 131 ever since it opened. The staff are wonderful and friendly and Crazy 8's bar is great downstairs with great music in the evenings. The food in 131 is competitively priced and a menu for most tasted. The interior is beautifully designed too. All in all it is a boon to Cheltenham. They are even expanding into the adjacent building which means more rooms on offer and an expanded restaurant facility. Awesome.
