Established in 1988, we are an experienced, independent agency based in St Marys Row, Moseley B13. We specialise in the letting, management and sale of residential property throughout Birmingham.

Story

Nicholas George Ltd is an independent, family owned agency originally started by Nicholas and Julia George in 1988 working from their Moseley home. We have expanded and now have a dedicated and enthusiastic staff, the majority of whom are local to the area and have been with us for many years. We moved to our current office in Moseley village in May 2009 having outgrown our previous two premises.

Letting is our core business and we are very passionate about it. We deal generally in the mid to upper end of the market. We take a modern, forward thinking approach, yet are proud to retain our traditional values. We are pleased to say that much of our business comes from recommendation.

The company is a registered member of the National Approved Letting Scheme (NALS), the Tenancy Deposit Scheme (TDS), Safe Agent (SAFE) and The Property Ombudsman, complying with legal requirements.

We purchased a house through Nicholas George this year and, being in the middle of a long chain over an 8 month period, found the professionalism of Lucy Carter to be immeasurably helpful. There were problems with communication at the bottom of the chain and I am not convinced that without Lucy they would have been resolved in a timely manner. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lucy and Nicholas George to anyone thinking of putting their home on the market.
Nicholas George have been a dream to work with during the recent sale of a family members house. Due to the specific circumstances, including the fact that I was over 100 miles away, the sale proceeded without any major difficulties. Nicholas George were kind, attentive and professional; if they said they would do something, it was done in a timely manner, with plenty of feedback. I would have no hesitation in recommending them. Lucy and Max deserve a special mention and thanks.
Was meant to be a simple ftb purchase with no chain however my solicitors were slow. Thanks to Lucy Carter chasing up & keeping all parties in the loop helped massively & meant I was able to complete before mortgage office expired. Couldn’t recommend them enough
Very highly recommended! Nicholas George are a very professional company in every single way! Lucy went above and beyond to help us putting our minds at ease throughout the whole process. Communication was excellent, always ready to answer any questions we had. We have used them in the past and will continue to use them in the future.
Nicholas George helped me to sell a 2-bedroom flat in Moseley. They were efficient and quick to respond, and their fees were very reasonable compared to other agents in the area. Lucy is very knowledgeable and made the whole process very painless.
I rented with Nicholas George for a year and would not recommend to anyone simply based off of the terrible attitude of their staff members. During the tenancy, any issues with the property were poorly responded to in regards to timing however that can be forgiven to a point. The real issue arose when it came to the end of my tenancy, I was sent a ridiculous email by Linsey in regards to the ‘cleanliness’ of the property and how I had left it. Things like a singular hair left on the bathroom floor and singular thread coming off of the carpet – all utterly ridiculous and clearly just a way to try and take money from my deposit. Not only had I left the property in better condition than when it was left to me but I had multiple people including the landlady and the electrician used by the agency say the flat was the best it had ever looked. Regardless, the emails and responses from Linsey when I attempted to attest these ‘cleanliness issues’ were rude and so unhelpful. Long story short, I went back to amend these so called issues where when returning to the flat I found an empty MilkyWay wrapper left on the floor – interesting that cleanliness is of such importance to Linsey yet she didn’t mind leaving this and following this, dropped the keys back into the office. I asked to meet with Linsey and she came into the conversation with such little class and poor approach to customer service leading to an actual argument within the office between the two of us. An insanely rude woman and I hope anyone reading this doesn’t have to deal with her in the future. Once I amended the issues, heard nothing from Linsey to confirm this had been received for over 4 days and so I went straight to TDS and requested the deposit that way. Deposit was returned within days as clearly Nicholas George did not have a leg to stand on. The landlady for the property was lovely however and made it very clear that Nicholas George attempt this with a range of her tenants and she was very unhappy with how they treat them. Their only saving grace is that they have one individual employee Kieran, who was pleasant and helpful. I’ll wait patiently for the MD’s response arguing every single point above….
I have 100% unequivocal proof that this company can be deceptive - now I don't know if it is rife throughout the culture of the company or not. I went to view a property - I liked it! I put in an offer. I was then advised the property had been taken off the market because the landlord had agreed a new tenant. I then waited a couple of days quite despondent. I then called the company again with a different more english name and was told it is available!!! I then emailed with my asian name as I did originally and explained I just called up and you said it is available - immediately as if in shock I was given the necessary documentation to apply for the property! I am not sure what happened there. But I sincerely hope it was a one off! If not please put your house in order and don't make people feel like they are not valued whatever their race - or at least train your staff to do so - and if landlords are asking for more english tenants you will have to refer them to an equality act of some kind. What is telling is one star reviews normally get a response from the MD of the company in this case he hasn't because he knows the allegation is quite serious and/or quite frankly it may all just stem from him.
Very friendly, slick and professional service managing our sale. Lucy and Max were both very responsive and helpful in keeping us up to date with progress throughout.
Rachel's story is a striking repeat of mine from three years ago. I do wonder if it was the same flat. Come on Nicholas George, it's time to sort yourselves out. Stop being so defensive and look within. **Reply** Dear Max, Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately, I have only just seen this as I was busy with life. Like most people, I have more than one Google account and with modern technology it's pretty easy to be in and out of accounts fairly easily. I'm really sorry if this upsets your view of me sitting at home setting up multiple accounts just to denegrate your good name. Although I'm sure viewers of your Google reviews can see that you do a good job of this yourself. I do take a particular interest in services that have treated me badly in the past. Largely, I live in the hope that people aren't in the same position as me. But also to see if a business makes improvements. It seems your "attack dog" nature is still in full force, especially when fiercely defending your company and staff. I still find this fascinating that you think this appropriate and a good look for your business. I'd also argue this applies to accusing people of using fake accounts and telling them to mind their own business. This is an age where Google is a powerful tool to boost your clients and income. Handled our sale and purchase calmly and professionally. Max, Lucy and the team are all genuinely nice people who do their best to take as much stress as possible out of the process of buying and selling a house. Recommended.
