Well, went there and it's a cornucopia of photographic equipment! I loved it and the owner was knowledgeable and gave good suggestions. I ended up buying a new camera bag. I tried out a few lenses but i didn't find one I liked. I'll be back though, just to gaze lovingly at all the cameras and bits and bobs.
I had no idea this store existed. Went by and had a look, the staff were incredibly friendly and really knowledgeable! In this camera world these places can be quite snooty this was the complete opposite and I will certainly recommend to friends and family to go to if they are looking for a camera!
Was at London for vacation and was about to go to London Zoo, figured to drop by quickly as I've been looking for a good canon fd 100-300mm and Nicholas has been on my radar for quite some time. The shop doesn't dissapoint with so much choices available, probably have every single focal length you are looking for, for any camera mount. If yr used to ebay prices, don't expect the shop to be cheaper. But if yr willing to pay abit extra for both trustworthy seller with full transparency if the lens has any faulty or not, and knowledgable owner on the gear. For me Im glad I dropped by and bringing home atleast one item from Nicholas. If yr in the area, and into vintage camera, this has to be top yr list.
Depending on who's working that day, you might get good service or the extreme worst service. Attitude isn't great and customer service isn't great either. There's better shops in London which is worth spending your hard earn money. Still a good place with lots of stuff but personally after visiting them a couple of times and how I was treated, probably not worth going again.
John and his team helped my wife with her new camera, they took time out of their day to show her how to use it and to set it up for her. What a lovely shop, she didn’t buy the camera from them yet they were so happy to help her. Fabulous family run camera shop!
What a great experience! I was delighted to find something unique for a present. The super friendly staff helped me find exactly what I needed, stayed open until I could find the present, thank you again it was amazing!
Both the owner and assistant were dismissive and condescending. I was passing by to browse for vintage lenses to adapt into my camera and apparently that was a mistake. They wanted me to be specific because supposedly they have too many options, but when I gave them a focal range I was only shown one lens. What happened to all the other options??? Then I asked for a different focal length, and I was told that it doesn't exist, even tho I know for a fact it does. Then I gave them a specific lens name with focal length and brand, and I was told to stop looking for ghosts. Can't they just say then don't have them? Why do they have to lie and say something doesn't exist? These guys need to understand that people go to these stores for the experience. We want to learn, browse, and explore our possibilities, otherwise eBay is a much more convenient way to buy. I'm surprised this place is still open with the way they treat their customers.
A photographer friend and I wandered in the camera store while waiting for the restaurant next door to open. We started chatting about the pros and cons about the cameras we both had slung around our bodies. The owner of the store offered us solutions to our issues by adding pieces of vintage hardware he had in his store. Solved and didn't allow us to pay. Camera experts. Quality service. Thanks Nicholas Cameras.
Today, I decided to go across London just to check out Nicholas's cameras and buy a zoom lens. I had one of the worst customer experiences of my life. The manager was in a very bad mood and he was extremely rude toward the guys working for him. His employees were automatically very cold and rude towards me. Their cameras and lenses were way too expensive, and while three men were helping me with a camera, I felt so uncomfortable with them that I left with a very weird feeling. Don’t go, I felt really bad mansplained over nothing.
The only camera shop in London that has been able to help me with my Miranda Sensorex. Both John and Adam were super helpful, I will be coming back again soon
